Overwatch 2 Has officially re -activated mirror matchings at competitive stadium after the fans made it clear that they were dissatisfied with the system. Fixed Overwatch 2 Originally prohibited mirror matches in ranked stadium games from season 18, this limitation has been officially removed indefinitely from the game mode.
Season 18 off Overwatch 2 was released on August 26 and brought some significant changes to the game. Stadium alone got a bunch of new content, including three heroes, payload Race game mode and an unpleasant fast game mode with crossplay. Competitive Stadium also received the Hero Draft system, where players could no longer choose heroes whom the other team had already chosen.
Competitive Stadium Mirror Matches is back in Overwatch 2
While Hero Draft has been popular, players were not a fan of the forbidden mirror matches. Players made their dissatisfaction known on the forums and social media, and asked Overwatch 2 Game director Aaron Keller to comment on it. According to a recent post on Twitter, Overwatch 2 Has officially removed the mirrored heroic restriction from competitive Stadium Hero Draft, and seems to have no plans to get it back soon.
Keller continued to say that Overwatch 2 Have loved introducing popular new features in the game, such as Stadium itself. But taking big swings comes with the risk that it will not always “land as we want.” He also promised to “adapt and iterate as fast as we can” when this happens – and given the mirror matches were taken down just two days after the update, it sounds like players have plenty of reason to believe in him.
One of the main reasons why Stadium Mirror Match Ban did not work was because of its limited program list. With only 24 heroes available in Overwatch 2 Stadium from Season 18 – just over half of the normal guard list – there is simply not enough turning room when each hero must be unique. This limitation can theoretically work better when the list of stadium heroes is filled, but given the pushbacken it remains to be seen if Overwatch 2 will ever try it again.
Regardless, Stadium gets its 25th hero under Overwatch 2 Mid season 18 update in the form of Tracer. Assuming it continues to add heroes at this rate, at this time next year, each hero will probably be at Stadion, including all future heroes as well. Fans must see what other ways this exciting new game mode will change between now and then.
