This article contains spoilers for anime in a piece
Monkey D. Garp is one of the most fascinating characters in all A bit. Although it has long been determined that this old Geezer has been an extremely important figure in history and served him the title hero of the Marine Soldier, too much of A bit Story, he just shows up here and there to offer some gags or dad jokes. However, this is meaningful considering that today he is more or less a retired navy that prefers to laze and eat chips than actually follow orders, especially if they come directly from Celestial Dragons.
As a result, it was quite difficult to get an idea of not only Garp's history, but also his actual abilities in battle, given that he is a character that ODA has tried to stay under cover as long as possible to build fan suspension and speculation. But in the latest history, Garp has proven much more often, and while he has had a lot of memorable scenes spread throughout the series, there is a specific one that succeeded in completely changing people's perception of him, and it is a scene that many fans will probably never forget about how purely epic it was.

An extremely powerful blow to save their most beloved student
After the warlords were dissolved by the World Government, Marines had the inevitable task of his hands by trying to arrest each of Shichibukai, given that they were all now considered forbidden who needed to be placed. While Kobe was the one sent to understand Boa Hancock, this assignment ended a horrible error after he was kidnapped by none other than Blackbeaard. This would inevitably attract the attention of Garp, who saw Kobe as his protégé, but while he would usually send some other powerful navy to deal with these types of incidents, Garps is close to Kobe so strong that it encouraged him to take things in his own hands.
“Koby is the Navy's future! Not only that, he is my beloved student” – Garp
After sitting on Fullalead Island and discovering Kobe at a distance, Garp launches in the air and releases what still stands as the most devastating attack in the Galaxy Impact series. With a single strike, Garp was able to send shock waves all over the island and blew away everything and everyone caught in the explosive blast.
While this already looked absolutely fantastic in manganese, Anime went in addition to the elegant animation to ensure that this attack looked as spotty and incredibly inspiring as possible. It's a shocking moment as no A bit Damn will ever be able to forget, but although it may look cool from a visual perspective, this scene also ended with a pretty big impact on how Garp was actually considered by much of the fan base.
How Garp showed fans wrong
He is not quite as old and slow as some may have believed

Fans have long been thinking about how strong Garp is still in their old age
For a while, many fans have been led to believing that Garp was not as strong as he was back in his heyday. After all, while he managed to defeat Rocks Pirates, along with a little help from Roger, it was still more than 30 years before the main story even starts, so it would be easy to assume that he has lost much of his shine when the years have passed. Connect this with the fact that Garp usually seems quite uncomfortable in getting into fights when he can help it, and it makes sense why many would assume that he just is not so overpower today.
A specific scene that led to a lot of debate about Garp's current level of power was back in Marineford, where Sengoku attached Garp to the ground after he swore to revenge on Acainu for killing Ace. Although this was clearly a significant threat from Garp, there were many doubts and debates if he could even have a chance against Akainu, given how incredibly powerful the former Admiral is already thanks to his devil fruit.
“You shouldn't release me, Sengoku … Otherwise I will kill the damn Sakazuki” – Garp
Thanks to this new scene, the fans have finally got a glimpse of what exactly Garp could have made potentially if Sengoku had not stopped him in his track. But in a broader sense, galaxy also dried up all the doubts that Garp became old and slow as a navy, and instead showed that he still has more than enough in the thought to take down someone whom he considers as an enemy.
Is Garp the strongest navy right now?
Not many can say they could hold their own against Garp
Marines have a stacked list of powerful fighters, many of whom can take down a whole pirate crew into no more than any attacks, but can any of them really stack up to Garp, even in his age? Although it can be difficult to say with certainty, given the marines very rarely fight against each other, the only ones that would really have a chance are that the Admirals, but even then, when it comes to raw strength, it does not seem like Kizaru, Fujitora or Greenbull would manage to hang on for too long if they come to raw for a long time, which kizaru, fujitora, fujitora, fujitora, fujitora, fujitora. If it seems that Kizaru, Fujitora or Greenbull manage to hang for too long if they come to the raw strength, which Kizaru, Fujitora or Greenbull would manage to hang for too long if they come to the raw strength, it seems like Kizaru, Fujitora or Greenbull manage to hang too much if they come to the raw, as they come to the raw, as they come to the raw, as they come to the raw, as they come to the raw. With that said, however, they can still use their speed to their advantage to potentially over -maneuver him, given that Garp is still in his older years, after all.
When it comes to Aokiji, who was formally an Admiral, while he was technically managed to overcome Garp, this was just because he had the other BlackBeard pirates to back him up, including Shiryu, who staked Garp when he didn't look. The fact that it takes a whole pirate crew just to handle an older man who is far past his prime only shows how sustainable Garp still is, even today.
The navy that probably has the best shot to take down Garp is Akainu, mainly because of his devil fruit. Oda has gone on a record and says that Akainu has one of the best devil fruit in the series when it comes to its offensive capacity, even admitted that if Akainu was the main character in history, he would have found one paragraph in no more than a single year. As clarified during the MarineFord -War, Akainu can melt anyone who comes in its way through his magma, so it would definitely be a treatment for fans to see him and Garp Due it out in the future if they ever cross roads.
