Overwatch 2 Just post an update that fixed a problem that allows players to use different color texts and emojis in the chat during a match. Although many Overwatch 2 Fans have had a lot of fun with this error, unfortunately it was an unintentional feature that has since been removed from the game.
At some point in season 17, players discovered a curious in the game that lets them write with different text colors, hero emojis and other symbols in Overwatch 2 Chat with the help of Hex code commands. This feature was not listed in any patch notes or announcements, which led to equal parts confusion and joy.
Unfortunately, these chat options seem to exist. A new hotfix that went live on August 5 removed this “question”, which meant it was an unintentional interaction that somehow made it to the Live game. From the update, players can no longer change the color of their text or use icons in the chat feature in the game.
Fans are understandably upset by this change, as it seemed like a harmless and fun tool for them to enjoy during a match. Many are disappointed to see it go, but others wonder how and why it was in the first place. Some hope it can be a function Overwatch 2 Could add in the game officially in the future, and that it was simply not in a finished state at the moment.
Chat text color error was not the only problem solved in this little patch. Orisa's energy stain in Overwatch 2 Stadium should now be properly affected by cooling reduction from objects and forces, and Kiriko's shadow clone from the clone should have its health appropriately increased by the hero's ability. There are no hero balance adjustments in this update, but playback codes in the game and highlights from the previous patch have been dried.
There is a lot to enjoy Overwatch 2 over the next few weeks. The Overwatch 2 The X Nerf collaboration only went live, and brought with it a legendary skin for Cassidy, six Nerf-themed weapons leather and Nerf or Nothin 'Game mode. Since August 14-18, Wuyang, Aquatic Support Hero, which comes in season 18, will have his trial weekend, which means that his full suite of abilities will be announced soon. Finally, the Season 17 competition-driven will be held August 21-25, which leads to the release of Season 18 itself on August 26.
