After a massive successful launch, Monster Hunter Wilds have seen a steep reduction in sales. Capcom has had a strong year so far 2025, with Monster hunter and Resident evil Franchises receive a lot of attention and praise, but part of it has decreased over time. Although it is one of the most remarkable editions of the year, Monster Hunter Wilds has not been able to maintain their first record-smart performance.
Wilderness broke new ground for the series, and even for Capcom as a whole, when it was first launched back in February 2025. In just three days, Monster Hunter Wilds Sold 8 million copies, making it the fastest Capcom title that ever reaches that benchmark. It also meant that it reached more than a third of Monster Hunter Worlds“Lifetime sales in less than a week, but things have not been so pink since then.

It's already the end of an era for Monster Hunter Wilds
When players come further away from Monster Hunter Wild's launch, their feelings about the game change and not for the better.
According to Capcom's Q1 FY 2025 financial results, Monster Hunter Wilds Has sold only 477,000 copies in the last quarter. That makes it the second lowest sold game highlighted in the report and knocking out the last place, 2021's Monster Hunter Risewith less than 90,000 units. Lifetime sales of the game is up to 10.58 million, which is a lot, but given that Monster Hunter Wilds reached 10 million units sold in April, showing a dramatic waste. The vast majority of the game's sales have come from the first two months, with all months since then not even reached a tenth of what came in front of them.
Monster Hunter Wilds Sales has dramatically fallen over the past three months
Some declining financial results after publication are to expect, but such a dramatic decline is surprising at first glance. But when you look at players feedback, it is clear what went wrong for the game. Many users report poor technical performance, especially on PC, which may have been excusable early but have probably become more difficult to accept over time. Players also report dissatisfaction with the slow drop of updates and lack of new content, which ultimately leads Monster Hunter Wilds to lose 98% of their steam player base.
Whether things turn to the game in the future, or how Capcom can plan to do so, is uncertain. At the same time, fans still have things to look forward to. July 31 Nintendo Direct revealed that a new Monster hunter The game comes out 2026 on Switch 2, Xbox Series X, PS5 and PC.
