Devil May Cry and Castlevania Anime Showrunner have acquired the rights to Duke Nukem

If you thought Duke Nukem as a franchise was dead and gone, think again. The Duke comes back, just not how you think, like Adi Shankar, who has helped live Castlevania and recently Devil May Cry, has acquired the rights to the franchise.

Devil May Cry 5 has not aged one day

Due to Netflix TV programs, Devil May experienced a sudden peak in popularity. We went back to DMC 5 to see if it passed the test test.

In an interview with Esquire, Shankar revealed that while he has contacted several IPs, he recently bought the rights to Duke Nukem IP from Gearbox, just not the rights of play.

When asked what his vision for a Duke Nukem adaptation looks like, Shankar had this to say:

It's a middle finger for everyone. When Duke Nukem blasted, a bunch of people sat around trying to turn it into a mark when it's just a middle finger. Duke Nukem cannot be made by a company, because at the moment a company makes Duke Nukem, it is no longer Duke Nukem. I'm not going to have anyone to tell you what to do on this one.

Right now it is unclear when a potential adaptation of the shooter will be released, because Shankar has their hands in several projects, but one thing is clear: he understands what makes Duke Nukem, yes, Duke Nukem.

Shankar has quickly become the video playing person

In addition to his work with Devil May Cry, which was recently green enlightened for a season 2, Shanks have several other projects in the works, all circles around video games.

Already in 2017, it was revealed that Shankar would rore an anime centered around Assassin's Creed franchise. It is unclear if the project is still ongoing, but the article refers to it. Elsewhere, Hyper Light Drifter was also announced to have an adaptation with Shankar at the helm. If that was not enough, as early as 2021, PUBG was revealed to get an adaptation, also from Shankar.

It is to say that Shankar is quite busy and has their hands in many projects. With Duke Nukem next on the list, there is literally nothing that says what is next.
