As an elders, Garling turned out to have light blonde hair. Some fans assumed that this color was used for him because he is old. But this section revealed that he always had this blonde hair, even when he was younger.
This definitely upsets many fans who believe that Garling should have red hair just like his sons, Shanks and Shamrock.

While many fans are upset about this and blame the animation studio, the different hair color for Shanks and Shamrock is not a choice made by them, but by Oda. In fact, this was not even news for those who actually read the chapters carefully.
The readers could tell from manganese that Garling was not a red -haired. ODA's color of Garling's hair is completely different from Shanks and Shamrock. Oda leaves Garling's hair as white in manganese, while Shanks is a gray shade. So it is quite strange that so many fans predicted that younger Garling would have red hair when it was very clear that his hair would be another, much lighter color.
