Considering how much happens between when Joel is killed by Abby and when Ellie fights against Abby in Santa Barbara, it is not at all surprising it Part 2 is at least twice as long as Part 1.

Ellie's three-day rampage throughout Seattle is quite dense with meetings against the infected (including shamblers, The last of us part 2's brand new infected type), Washington Liberation Front and Seraphites. That is why, when Abby becomes playable again after a cut-to-black cliffhanger in the theater, Part 2 earns his The fire ring moment.

The fire ring It may only seem so big when Limgrave alone is represented on the players' maps, but being whipped to Leyndell by a teleporter coffin in Weeping Peninsula and seeing how far away players have been taken is a sober promise that they have no idea how to predict the game's large scale. This results in the revelation that there is a whole half of the game left because there must be enough time to be assigned to play as Abby for players to actually spend dietary supplements on these upgrades, and they will do so for the same three days as they had previously spent with Ellie.

The last of us part 3 can be as short or as long as it wishes

Now it will be interesting to see if a possible Last of us part 3 chooses to be shorter Part 1 or longer as Part 2. In any case, its length will hopefully be dictated by how straightforward or complicated its story structure is.

A shorter game may not be able to hold on and reveal its length in an astonishing and subverted way, but all the secrets that the series may end up would be a valuable hand to play as there may not be a terribly long durability for the franchise left. But about The last of us' The fire ring Elements have already been reached, perhaps naughty dogs Intergalactic: The herethern Prophet Can do so now as a new IP without preconceived perceptions.
