Wit Studio's new anime will be out next month, but what is it?

From original IPS like Vivy: Florite Eyes Song to acclaimed works such as Ranking of kings or their collaboration with Cloverworks on Spy X FamilyWit Studio has killed it in recent years. But their latest project, MoonriseHave been steadily forgotten, mainly because there has hardly been a look at it since it was announced over two years ago.

Originally announced June 8, 2022, Moonrise is an original science fiction story created by Tow Ubukata (Ghost in the shell: stand up) and directed by Masashi Koizuka (Attack on titanium). Later that year a trailer was dropped, confirming the commitment of Full metal alchemist Creator Hiromu Arakawa as a character designer, along with a 2024 release window.

What is Wit Studios lunar upturn?

At the time when the project was originally announced, a Prologue novel was imprisoned by Ubukata on Amazon free with Kindle Unlimited or for 0.99 cents to buy. Beat a new story is one thing, but this was a pretty bold promise of an original IP. The trailer released a few months later lacked dialogue, but spoke volumes with Ryo Kawasakis (To your eternityThe Black Butler) Powerful and cinematic points connected to Arakawa's wonderful character art. A war between a resistance to the moon and the earth's “peaceful inhabitants” was the only site to leave.

Two and a half years later …

For the longest time, there was not much news beyond what the trailer and the press releases revealed. 2024 – A release window that already seemed so far away in 2022 – came and went. Last month we even reported the speculation that Moonrise was delayed indefinitely. The universe certainly has a sense of humor because on March 7, Netflix broke its silence and confirmed that the project was not delayed, but actually came out on April 10. If someone read the Prologue novel, more plot details make the earth seem significantly more punishable than the shortest plot contractors would suggest. In this future, humanity relies on an AI network called Sapiential to make its decisions, such a monumental decision is the launch of a project that sends criminals and so-called “pollution” to the moon. The director and the author

As for the staff we already knew about, director Koizuka made a name as an animator long before he helped make Attack on titanium The feeling it was. Will Moonrise get to heaven?

Netflix's strategy for marketing its content is one of debatable competence, but this is a special case. If Moonrise Really as exciting as its singular trailer makes it seem – or as groundbreaking as WIT's CEO claims – two years radio load may not have been good for it. Contrary to rumors from February, it is not delayed indefinitely, but one wonders how much of the surrounding context behind these rumors was true.
