Honkai: Star Rail – Greek gods and heroes referred to in Amphoreus so far

Honkai: Star RailThe third update introduced the new planet Amphoreus. This new planet is filled with references to Greek and Roman mythology, from its name to its characters and then. But these references not only mention specifically Greek and Roman gods and heroes, Honkai: Star RailNew planet has a clear Greek sense of its design. Still, with Greek mythology's gods and heroes who make such a huge impact throughout pop culture, it is no surprise that amphhor is filled with many references to these powerful warriors.

To keep this article on the shorter page, this article defines a reference to a hero or God from Greek or Roman mythology when the name of the God or hero is mentioned. This reduces the pool with references because several of Amphoreus characters seem to pay tribute to Greek and Roman gods or heroes without using the same name. In addition, references to monsters, philosophers and Greece and Rome's many important historical players are excluded from this article.

Honkai: Star Rail – Every Unresolved Amphant character is leaking so far

Hoyoverse has promised at least twelve characters for Amphoreus, but not all these characters have joined Honkai: Star Rail.

Amphoreus NPCs have acquaintance names

Amphoreus has over eighty NPCs and the number will continue to climb when future updates for the new planet are already planned. Yet some of these NPCs have more significance on Honkai: Star Rail than others.

Some of the smaller NPCs have big names to look up to. For example, Daidalos, the principal engineer for Kremnos Arena, is mentioned short in the arena's maintenance log. His name is a clear reference to Daedalus, one of the most well -known engineers in Greek mythology and the creator of Minotaur's maze and father of Icarus. Daidalo's name is proof of how dedicated to engrossing storytelling hoyover is. This character has only been shown by name so far in Honkai: Star RailBut this name choice immediately reveals.

Other little NPCs that players actually interact with have some of the most recognizable names from Greek and Roman myths. Characters such as Gaia, Peleus, Cassondra and Iason have practically the same name as the Greek gods and heroes they refer to. Gaia is clearly based on Mother Earth, Peleus is named after the father of Achilles, Cassondra, which acts as a fortune in Janusopolis, is a reference to Oracle Cassandra, and Iason is just a letter away from the hero, Jason. In particular, Iason names the Dromases after other Greek myths, with their names that are asterion, euphemus, Castor and Pollux and Heracles.

There are some names that partly hide the characters they refer to, such as Demetria, Apollonia, Aphrea and Ulixes. Star rail Players captured their Greek mythology will know that Demetria and Apollonia are references to the Demeter and Apollo of the Greek god. However, Ulixes is the Latin form of “Ulysses”, another name for the Greek hero Odysseus. Aphrea is also a tricky situation. While Aphrea sounds like Aphrodite, the link that clearly binds the Greek goddess of love for Aphrea is the character's marriage to Vulcan, the Roman title for Hephaestus. Aphrodite and Hephaestus are married and confirm that Aphrea got its name after the love goddess.

Roman Mythology also has its fair share of NPC references. NPCS Bacchus and Fortuna are both named after Roman gods. Bacchus is the Roman form of the Greek Dionysus and Fortuna is the Roman goddess of luck. However, one of the more important NPCs in Amphoreus's story is based on a Greek character. The oldest Caenis from the elder council seems to be modeled after Caeneus.

Honkai: Star Rail Leaks shows the different roads that Hoyoverse tests for several of RPG's underdevelopment signs.

Titans refers to Greek mythology constantly

Amphoreus' Many Titans also clearly refer to Greek and Roman mythology. Titans such as Thanatos, Mnestia and Zagreus all refer directly to Greek gods with their names. Thanatos is the Greek personification of death, a suitable name for Death Titan. Mnestia and Zagreus are more unclear references. Mnestia probably originates from Mnemosyne, the Greek goddess in memory, and Zagreus seems to be an orphan version of Dionysus. These names are suitable for titans representing romance and trickery.

Titans Cerces and Oronym, which could possibly be one of Chrysos heirs, can also refer to Greek gods and heroes in their names. Cerces sounds like Circe, a magician who has appeared in several adventures, especially Odyssey. Oronyx seems to refer to the goddess of the night, NYX. Given Titan's tie to Evernight, this reference seems logical.

However, Kephale has the most obvious reference to a character from Greek mythology even though he does not share a name. The titanium father to Amphoreus is shown that holds up the sky, a direct reference to Atlas. Missing Kephale on this list would be madman even though he technically does not fit the guidelines established at the beginning of this article.

Chrysos wings refers subtilt Greek mythology

Chrysos heirs are undoubtedly the most remarkable characters in Amphoreus, since they are all said to be playable characters. Aglaea, which was introduced to Honkai: Star Rail In version 3.0 was the first Chrysos heir that joined the game. She shares her name with one of the Greek charities. MyDeimos, who will go with Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1, seems to share a name with Deimos, the Greek god of terror and son of Aphrodite and Ares. This name fits considering that Deimos takes the path of destruction and seeks the core flame of the battle.

Two unreleased and alleged Krysos heirs also refer to Greek mythology. Hyacine, which is currently NPC but was confirmed as a Chrysa -heir in the golden epic trailer, could directly refer to hyacinth. This tragic character was the lover of Apollo before he was beaten down by an envious former lover. Phainon shares a similar role as Hyacine, as he has been confirmed to be a Chrysos heir in the golden epic trailer but is currently an NPC. His name can be a reference to Phaenon, a sky god specifically by Star Cronus.

Hoyoverse has also referred to Greek and Roman heroes and gods through the names of places, especially Janusopolis. This name originates from Janus, the Roman god of doorways, which perfectly fits the city with the thousand gates. Janus is also referred to in Amphoreus's history as the passage Titan. Even readable topics have received the reference treatment, with “Dromas Heracles” twelve tracks “is available to players in Epiphany. These constant references show how dedicated Honkai: Star Rail is to Amphoreus' theme. Future versions will certainly reveal more references to Greek and Roman gods and heroes.
