Ever since the first Sonic the Hedgehog game was released in 1991, the blue blur has made its fair share of allies and enemies. Sometimes his friends can play in their own games, such as Tails in Tails Adventure or Knuckles and Team Chaotix in Knuckles' Chaotix.

Sonic The Hedgehog: 10 Most Underrated Characters In The Series
From Merlina the Wizard to Charmy the Bee, these characters are criminally underutilized in the Sonic canon.
But in recent years, Sonic the Hedgehog has taken the lead once again. Although his friends may appear as playable characters in his games, the story always points back to the fastest hedgehog alive. It's time for Sonic to step back and let his friends step into the spotlight with games starring them.
8 Rouge The Bat
Fly in freedom
Rouge the Bat is a spy with a love for all things shiny and valuable. She will do whatever it takes to get her hands on jewels and treasure, even if a little theft is involved.
If Rouge had her own game, the levels would likely be a mix of stealth missions and treasure hunts, similar to how her stages were in Sonic Adventure 2. As a nod to the game she was introduced in, Rouge could even have some missions where she had to hunt down someone in their own version of the Batmobile.
The fastest robot alive
While many Sonic games let you play as heroes, few let you play as villains. It would make a Metal Sonic game all the more interesting. Dr. Eggman created Metal Sonic as a counter to Sonic's speed. Despite being a machine, Metal Sonic is able to keep up with the blue blur and fight him on his own terms.

Sonic Dream Team: Every playable character, ranked
Sonic and friends are back in the Sonic Dream Team, but which character is the best?
A game starring Metal Sonic would put the villains in the player's control, allowing us to see what Eggman and his henchmen are up to on a daily basis. It might even bring back familiar faces like Sage, Orbot, and Cubot to help Metal Sonic along the way.
6 Blaze The Cat
Return to the dimension of the Sun
Blaze the Cat is the princess of the Sol Dimension and protector of the Sol Emeralds. Although she played a major role in both the Sonic Rush games and the 2006 Sonic the Hedgehog title, she has yet to be the sole star of her own game.
If Blaze the Cat were to take on the role of main heroine, it would likely be because the Sol Emeralds were taken. In her adventures across the Sol dimension, we would get to know better the land Blaze was meant to protect. This game may also bring back familiar faces from the Sonic Rush games, such as Marine the Raccoon and Eggman Nega.
5 Jet The Hawk
Babylon Rogues strike back
The Babylon Rogues, led by Jet the Hawk, made their appearance in the Sonic Riders games. Along with Wave the Swallow and Storm the Albatross, they are a band of thieves that have existed for centuries, passed down from leader to leader.
If Jet could get his own game, the other two members of the Babylon Rogues would likely join him. Jet was able to speed through his stages and let Wave and Storm help him with problems he couldn't solve alone. The gameplay may be similar to Sonic Adventure 2, where all Babylon Rogues have their own unique play style. It's about time Babylon Rogues made a comeback.
4 Miles “Tails” Prower
His brilliant mind solves problems his tails can't
Miles “Tails” Prower previously starred in two games of his own, as his character was being developed. Tails Adventure and Tails' Skypatrol were both released for the Game Gear in 1995, although the two-tailed fox hasn't had any games of his own since then.

10 Best Sonic The Hedgehog Games
Sonic the Hedgehog is a classic Sega game series that has jumped from console to console, and this is the best of all those games.
A lot has changed with the Sonic series since then. A modern game starring Tails would utilize both his ability to fly to access new locations and his brilliant mind, capable of creating unique gadgets. Some stages can have you riding in his tornado, either flying high through the sky or shooting down enemies on the ground. His gameplay can be a fun mix between his playstyles in both Sonic Adventure games.
3 Knuckles the Echidna
All to protect the Master Emerald
Knuckles the Echidna played a major role in both Sonic & Knuckles and Knuckles' Chaotix. Although he's been playable ever since, the guardian of the Master Emerald hasn't seen the spotlight without Sonic stepping into it with him.
If Knuckles had his own game, the echidna would probably try to retrieve the Master Emerald again. His gameplay would include treasure hunting stages similar to the Sonic Adventure series, as well as stages where his fists talk. Familiar enemies like Rouge the Bat and Dr. Eggman would probably serve as the game's antagonists. It would also be a great opportunity for us to learn more about the ancient echidna civilization.
2 Silver Hedgehog
Psychic powers can change the future
Silver the Hedgehog made his debut in the 2006 Sonic the Hedgehog title, where he tries to save the future from its dark destiny by killing Sonic the Hedgehog. Realizing he had been misled, he joins the Blue Blur's side instead.
We know little of what became of Silver's future after Iblis was defeated, only that it was free from the terror Iblis caused. A game featuring Silver would be the perfect chance to explore that future and meet the descendants of characters we know and love. Blaze could even appear, transported from the Sol Dimension, to help his hedgehog friend back out.
1 Amy Rose
It's about Girl Power
Amy Rose has been a staple of the Sonic franchise since she was first introduced on Sonic CD. Starting out as just Sonic's self-proclaimed girlfriend, Amy has struggled to gain more character depth with her signature Piko Piko Hammer.
An Amy Rose game could have the pink hedgehog embark on a journey to rescue her hero captured by Eggman for a surprising change. She can strike down threats with her hammer, guess which path to take with her tarot cards, or rely on friends to help her through problems she can't face alone. In the end, Sonic probably won't date her, but Amy will get the satisfaction of being strong enough to save those she cares about instead.
