Yuki Tsukumo was given the same rank as Gojo Satoru
Like Gojo, Yuki Tsukumo is a powerful jujutsu wizard with a special grade title under his belt. Meanwhile, Yuki prefers to take matters into her own hands, much like Gojo, who mostly disagrees with the conservative elders. Instead, Yuki prefers to work alone in hopes of finding a permanent solution to the world's curse problem.
On the battlefield, Yuki Tsukumo is undeniably worthy of his registered rank. With her cursed technique and shikigami, Yuki is able to effortlessly kill a special class curse with one shot, much to Kenjaku's surprise. In addition, Yuki's large cursed energy pool allows her to use the reverse cursed technique actively and even expand her innate domain.

Gojo Satoru never doubted Megumi' Fushiguro's potential
Gojo was one of the most powerful sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen who recognized Megumi Fushiguro's terrifying potential as a user of the Ten Shadows Technique. After all, at one point in the series, a Ten Shadows Technique user fought on equal terms with a Limitless and Six Eyes wizard from the Gojo clan, with the match ending in a draw.
That said, Gojo truly believes that Megumi can defeat him in battle once he has mastered the Ten Shadows technique. Although Megumi failed to tame the strongest of the Ten Shadows, he still realized much of the technology's true potential by the end of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Maki Zenin became one of Gojo Satoru's strongest allies
Leaving the Zenin Clan was one of the boldest decisions Maki Zenin made Jujutsu Kaisen. By choosing to stand up for herself, Maki walked a path opposite her sister, Mai. Despite growing further apart over the years, their journeys finally converged one last time, forever changing Maki's fate with the full manifestation of her Heavenly Restriction.
Maki not only mirrored Toji Fushiguro's overwhelming physical abilities, but she also fulfilled Mai's dying wish by destroying everything the Zenin Clan stood for. With the shackles of her heavenly restriction finally broken, Maki gained strength on par with Toji, the same Toji who once mortally wounded Gojo Satoru.

Yuta Okkotsu's power always rivaled that of Gojo Satorus
Yuta Okkotsu surpassed many of Jujutsu High's exceptional wizards in an instant. Despite being an amateur in the art of weaponizing cursed energy, Yuta was immediately recognized as a special class wizard, a title only awarded to the strongest jujutsu wizards in history, such as Gojo.
With Yuta's iconic copying technique and his authority over the Queen of Curses, Rika goes toe-to-toe with the strongest villains in Jujutsu Kaisen became routine for him. Meanwhile, Gojo was confident in Yuta's abilities and his potential to surpass him one day. True enough, Yuta eventually becomes the head of the Gojo clan Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo.

Kenjaku turned Gojo Satoru's strength against him
Sealing Gojo during the Shibuya Incident Arc was a huge feat that only someone with incredible power and careful planning could accomplish, and Kenjaku defied expectations with his hundred-year plan. Only a select few individuals can catch Gojo off guard, given his techniques, but Kenjaku did so with ease.
As soon as Kenjaku absorbed Mahito, acquired Idle Transfiguration, and sealed Gojo in the Prison Realm, he finally set the deadly Culling Games in motion. With his high combat intelligence, great jujutsu knowledge, and centuries of battlefield experience, Kenjaku is undeniably worthy of recognition as one of Jujutsu Kaisens terrifying villains.

Ryomen Sukuna surpassed Gojo Satoru
Few names in the history of jujutsu inspire as much fear as Ryomen Sukuna, whose overwhelming power and iconic cursed techniques are capable of destroying civilizations, flattening battlefields and surviving battles that would almost kill anyone else. A human-turned-reincarnated-cursed-object, Sukuna wreaked havoc in the modern era before throwing in the towel.
Sukuna's iconic moniker, King of Curses, is a worthy title for the jujutsu powerhouse himself. After all, Sukuna ultimately bested Gojo in their final confrontation, denying him a chance to live or see another peaceful day with his friends. He was the most powerful villain and was so strong that no one in Jujutsu Kaisen could defeat him on his own.

With his ageless body and advanced mastery of powerful and destructive cursed techniques, Yuji outlasts even Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin, leaving him as one of the last remaining legendary wizards who fought alongside Gojo in the modern era.
While Yuji has certainly assumed the role that Gojo once filled due to his immense powers, it was always inevitable that he would eventually reach a similar or higher level of power as one of Gojo's most promising students. His potential to stand alongside Gojo and even surpass him has always been there.
