Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on July 23, as Square Enix confirmed the news with a surprise reveal on social media. Switch 2 port on Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster was announced hours before the June 9 Nintendo Direct broadcast went live.
Originally released in July 2001, Final Fantasy 10 is the first Final Fantasy title to include fully voiced characters. Final Fantasy 10 tells the story of Tidus, a star Blitzball athlete, and Yuna, a young Summoner on a mission to defeat the colossal Sin. In the 2003 sequel Final Fantasy 10-2Yuna joins Rikku and Paine to form a trio of sphere hunters called the Gullwings. While Final Fantasy 10 considered a groundbreaking contribution for its graphics and voice acting, Final Fantasy 10-2 is a polarizing title that has divided fans for over two decades.

Soon more Final Fantasy fans can enjoy two of the most popular entries in the franchise. Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster launches on Switch 2 on July 23rd, priced at $49.99, and pre-orders are already open on the Nintendo Store. The two-game compilation contains over 100 hours of combined game content, including exclusive boss battles first featured in the international versions of the games. Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster also includes original and remastered soundtracks from both Final Fantasy games, along with quality-of-life options like high-speed mode and the ability to turn off random encounters.
However, Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster has some caveats for players to keep in mind. Save data from the Switch version of Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster cannot be carried over to the upcoming Switch 2 port. Additionally, the duology's Switch 2 launch in North America will be digital only, as Square Enix has not announced any physical release plans outside of Japan. Despite that Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster requiring just 27.8GB of storage, physical copies sold in Japan will be released in the controversial Game-Key Card format. It remains to be seen if Square Enix will expand physical sales of the Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster outside of Japan.
Hours after releasing the news of Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD RemasterSquare Enix revealed a few more titles coming to Switch 2 in 2026 and beyond. During the Nintendo Direct on June 9, Square Enix revealed Final Fantasy Resonancea new HD-2D title based on the first chapter of the defunct mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. Final Fantasy Resonance will also include characters from the past Final Fantasy titles, like Tidus, like Visions that players can call into battle. Final Fantasy Resonance launches on Switch 2 and other current-gen platforms on October 22.

The Switch 2 will also see the arrival of Final Fantasy 14 in August 2026, along with the long-awaited launch of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation spring 2027. With that in mind Final Fantasy 10 will celebrate its 25th anniversary in the coming weeks, the arrival of Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster on Switch 2 couldn't be more relevant for fans.
