2 licensed Xbox games may be delisted in July 2026

A couple of licensed games may soon be removed from the list Xbox Shop, incl Funko Fusion and Star Trek Legends both are at risk of being removed. Funko Fusion is currently available at a steep discount on Xbox, while Star Trek Legends has recently been removed from Sony and Nintendo storefronts.

Licensed games have been a staple of the gaming industry since its early days, with developers often collaborating with popular brands. A wide variety of TV shows and movies have been turned into video games throughout gaming history, both by directly adapting the source material and taking inspiration from beloved properties. Some licensed games have even seen huge success as love letters to their IP, including critically acclaimed games like The legacy of Hogwarts and that LEGO Star Wars series. Now Microsoft may be preparing to remove two licensed games from the Xbox Store.

Following PlayStation's announcement to end support for physical discs, Xbox may consider doing the same.

Xbox may remove Funko Fusion and Star Trek: Legends

Microsoft may be preparing to remove both Funko Fusion and Star Trek: Legends from the Xbox Store, based on the latest changes both on and off-platform. Funko Fusion is currently available at a deep discount on the Xbox Store, marked down by 95%, with fans speculating that Xbox plans to remove Funko crossover action game from the storefront. Rumors of Star Trek: Legends has largely grown after it was similarly removed from both the PlayStation Store and Switch eShop in recent weeks. Microsoft has not made an official comment about the pending removal of any of the games.

The licensed Xbox games have seen largely mixed reviews from fans on Xbox. Funko Fusion was considered a commercial failure upon launch, even leading to layoffs at 10:10 games, despite the game featuring crossovers with everything from Back to the future and Master of the Universe to The office and Five Nights at Freddy's. Star Trek: Legends received a similarly lukewarm reception from fans, with many comparing it negatively to mobile strategy games and experiencing numerous technical issues upon launch.

The potential delisting of Funko Fusion and Star Trek: Legends wouldn't be anything new for licensed games, with many previously removed from online stores. Expiration of license agreements is usually the main factor behind the removal of branded games, with the developer no longer having a valid license to portray certain characters owned by the source material. Popular edition from 2026 Mixtape recently saw significant controversy about it possibly being delisted in the future, although Annapurna Interactive later confirmed that Mixtapes music licenses were paid in perpetuity.

While Xbox will potentially lose two licensed games in July, the console has plenty of exciting new games in the pipeline throughout the month. July 9th welcomes the highly anticipated release of Assassin's Creed Black Flag resyncdebuts as a complete remake of the fourth main series Assassin's Creed game. Xbox is also gearing up for one of the biggest games of the year at the end of July, gearing up for launch Halo: Campaign Evolved on July 28. A stacked set of Xbox games releasing throughout July should help offset the potential loss of Funko Fusion and Star Trek: Legends.
