Zetsubou No Shima Easter Egg Guide (Black Ops 3)

Zetsubou No Shima is one of Black Ops 3 Zombies‘ easiest main easter eggs, but it’s also one of the longest due to the amount of setups and preparations needed to complete it. With a terrifying jungle led by Group 935, infested with plant mutations and spiders galore, players might feel extra intimidated embarking on Zetsubou No Shima’s main quest, but worry not, for this guide will safely navigate you through each step.

You’ll find a step-by-step guide to the Zetsubou No Shima main easter egg to ensure that Primis is able to nab Takeo’s soul and progress to the next map with ease. Below is a no-nonsense guide that will cover all steps, including every location you need to know for the parts involved for plants, wonder weapons, and more.

Black Ops 3: Der Eisendrache Main Easter Egg Guide (2026)

Here’s the ultimate Der Eisendrache easter egg guide you’ll want to follow in order to complete the main quest that awaits the snowy zombie region.

The Zetsubou No Shima easter egg requires the Anywhere But Here! GobbleGum, so make sure it’s in your GobbleGum Pack before starting!

Step 1: Turn On the Power

Upon spawning into Zetsubou No Shima, you will find a water bucket on the ground. You’ll need to collect this, as it will become important for turning on the power and for later steps. With the bucket acquired, head forward past the GobbleGum Machine and open through the vines to reach Lab A. To the left of Lab A, there will be a pool of blue water, which you can interact with to fill your bucket. With the bucket now filled, enter the upstairs of Lab A and turn on the power by using a filled bucket.

Now that power has been restored to Lab A, you will want to fill your bucket back up with the blue water (or any water) and continue through the right path of the map to reach Lab B. Inside Lab B, you will find another power generator that requires water. Once Lab A and Lab B are operational, the bunker between them (connected via the power lines) will be unlocked after interacting with the entrance.

Opening the bunker will introduce your first Thrasher, but you can kill the spore-infested zombie before it mutates. Now, head inside and take a left through to the Power Room. Opposite the power switch, you will need to swim and interact with the webbed fan. This begins a lockdown where you must kill 20 zombies. Remember to surface for air, or you will drown.

Once the lockdown is complete, pick up the glowing gold part that dropped from the same fan you removed the webbing from, and interact with the power switch to turn on the power.

While doing the other steps below, we also recommend starting progress on Step 6 of this guide by checking your individual trials at the altar.

Step 2: Build the Shield

All Shield Parts Locations in Zetsubou No Shima

The Shield will ensure that you are protected from hits from behind, but it’s also needed for a later step in the easter egg. Here’s where to find all Shield parts:

  • Piece #1 – Found underneath Lab A, either on a pillar by a 115 cannister, by a pillar at the Kuda wall-buy, or the wall by a zombie barrier.
  • Piece #2 – Found in the Lab B area, found resting on trees around the area.
  • Piece #3 – Found in the Anti-Aircraft Platform, to the right of the bunker’s interior. Inside, it can be in the upper right area, by some broken rocks, by the window, or near the Mystery Box.

You can now craft the Shield at Lab A or Lab B. This item does have durability, and if it breaks, simply return to where you crafted it to get a new one for free.

Step 3: Build the Gas Mask

All Gas Mask Part Locations

The Gas Mask will allow you to breathe through spore clouds without coughing, and it allows you to spend longer underwater. Here are the locations for all 3 parts:

  • Cable — Found at the plane crash site by the Propeller Trap. It can be either on a rock to the left of the Mystery Box, or just outside the crashed plane.
  • Mask — Found at the back of Lab B by the Irradiated Green Water, either on a wooden crate by a rock, by the scaffolding at the water, or on a crate up the stairs by Double Tap.
  • Filter — Found at the Docks, past the Power Room. This part can be found by the zipline, on a rock by the weapon wall-buy, or by the Mystery Box.

You can now craft the Gas Mask at Lab A or Lab B. This item does have durability, and if it breaks, simply return to where you crafted it to get a new one for free.

Step 4: Acquire the Skull of Nan Sapwe

To the right of the spawn area, you will find an open area with a central altar. This altar has 4 skulls, each with unique symbols on pedestals. The objective here is the same for all 4 skulls. You must memorize the symbol, take the skull, bring it to its specific altar (which is also marked with the same symbols), and protect the altar while the skull cleans. Enemies consist of zombies, spiders, and sometimes Thrashers, but the Thrashers ignore the altar:

  • Altar #1 is found in the spawn area.
  • Altar #2 is found by the Propeller trap in the left room after spawn.
  • Altar #3 is found in the Docks, which is the room to the left of the bunker after the Power Room.
  • Altar #4 is in the lower area of the Operations Room, opposite the Pack-a-Punch machine.

Once each skull has been cleaned, return it to the altar. After all 4 skulls have been cleansed, a secret room underneath the altar will open, and you can enter inside to grab the Skull of Nan Sapwe, but not before you’re locked into the room with hostile Keepers that need to be killed.

Step 5: Acquire the KT-4 Wonder Weapon

All KT-4 Parts Locations

Now, it’s time to build Zetsubou’s wonder weapon, the KT-4. This weapon is essential for the easter egg, and it’s pretty strong if you hold the fire button to charge your shots. Here’s how to craft it:

On a Spider Round, return to Lab A and interact with the green panel, which will lower a cage. Follow the cage down the stairs, and lure a spider inside. Now, head back up the stairs and interact with the green console again to see a syringe take the spider venom, which can then be collected by you.

green vial for the kt-4

Around the Lab B area, you will need to wait for one of the zombies to appear with a glowing green hue. Once this green zombie appears, you can kill it to drop a green vial, which is another part for the KT-4.

Inside the bunker, head to the Operations Room and go down the stairs to open the room with Mule Kick. You will now need to swim through the cave, but remember to surface for air and shoot the orange spores for oxygen so you do not drown. At the end of the cave, you will find a plant that you can pick up.

With all 3 KT-4 parts acquired, head back to the Operations Room, where, at the back wall, you will find a crafting table that you can interact with to build the KT-4 wonder weapon. All players can get the KT-4 from the Mystery Box from this point on.

Step 6: Complete All 3 Trials for the Lightning Strike

All players will have 3 trials that can be found and assessed at the altar where you acquired the skulls. If you’re playing solo, then you just need to complete your 3 trials, but co-op players will need to ensure they have all completed a set of randomly assigned trials:

Trial 1

Trial 2

Trial 3

Eat a fruit grown by a plant

Obtain a power-up from a plant.

Water the same plant 3 times.

Kill 8 spiders with spores

Kill 15 zombies attracted to a plant.

Water 5 plants.

Kill 3 zombies as they are mutating

Kill 20 zombies while underwater.

Shoot 5 spores.

Get 30 kills with the Propeller Trap

Kill 10 spore-infected zombies with headshots.

Use a spore to regain air underwater.

Shoot the heads off of 5 mutated zombies

Kill a Thrasher before it becomes enraged.

Destroy five webs with explosives.

Get 20 kills with the Fan Trap.

Once all 3 trials have been completed, non-lethal lightning will strike the altar area every 2 minutes. This lightning can be obtained by holding your shield when it strikes, and you will need the lightning on your shield to acquire 1 part of the KT-4 upgrade and 1 cog. Both steps will be explained below.

Step 7: Upgrade the KT-4 to the Masamune

All KT-4 Upgrade Parts Locations

The Masamune is the essential and powerful KT-4 upgrade that has three parts you will need to get:

The first part requires you to acquire Rainbow Water. Rainbow Water fills your bucket and can be acquired from the Operations Room. Inside, locate the stairs and activate the panel by the sewer tunnel, which will see you sucked inside. On the 3rd green pipe, where 115 rocks can be found, hold interact to grab the Rainbow Water.

With Rainbow Water, head past Mule Kick and enter the deepest part of the underwater cave. Use the Skull of Nan Sapwe’s LT/L2 attack to reveal a hidden wall to the right, where you can plant a seed. Now, water the seed with Rainbow Water for 3 rounds. On the 4th round, a plant will emerge, which can be plucked for the first part of the KT-4 upgrade.

Another upgrade part for the KT-4 can be found by equipping your shield at the altar where you completed your 3 trials. After 2 minutes, lightning will strike your shield, and you can take your shield to Lab B, where you will then melee strike the electric panel. This will cause the cage to open, and you can enter inside. The cage will lower, and you can pick up the blue vial sticking out of a skeleton’s ribcage. For solo players, the cage will take you back to Lab B, but in co-op, another player must press the button.

For the final upgrade, you will need to use the KT-4 on the webs outside Lab A, by the mineshaft where Speed Cola and the Blue Water are located. Enter inside, and prepare to fight a giant spider. This spider can be killed by shooting its gurgling, acid-spewing mouth. Explosives are great here, but any weapon will do. Just remember to avoid the spider’s stabbing legs. Once killed, cross the bridge and interact with the spider’s fang.

You can now enter the Operations Room, and with your KT-4, interact with the workbench by the ritual skull altar to turn the KT-4 into the Masamune.

Step 8: Acquire the 3 Cogs

Cog #1 Location — Dragon Egg Nest

dragon egg cog

To obtain the first cog, you simply need to grab Anywhere But Here, the GobbleGum from Dr. Monty’s Gumball Machine. Now, use Anywhere But Here to teleport inside a facility with dragon eggs, where you will find a cog at the back of the room on some hay.

Cog #2 Location — Zip Line to the Docks

Head to the upstairs of Lab A, where you will find a zipline that takes you to the docks. For solo players, you need to acquire lightning on your shield (explained in Step 5) and then melee the electrical panel with the shield to imbue it with electricity. After, use the melee button when you’re just about to land at the dock so you can drop early and grab the cog.

For co-op players, one player must hit the panel with their lightning shield as the other player is going across the zipline. This will cause the zipline player to drop, but make sure it’s not too early. Falling into the water results in instant-death, so be careful!

Cog #3 Location — Anti-Aircraft Shell

For the third and final cog, you’re going to need a few Seeds, the KT-4 upgraded Masamune, and Blue Water. You are going to plant a Seed, water it with blue water (from Lab A), then shoot it with the Masamune, for 3 rounds straight. The more seeds, the merrier, as there is a 1 in 7 chance to get an Anti-Aircraft Shell. On the 4th round, open the plant and pick up the Artillery Shell.

At the Anti-Aircraft Platform, you can interact with the Anti-Aircraft Gun until you hear a loud CLUNK, which indicates that you’ve loaded the Artillery Shell inside. Now, you will need to wait for a large plane to appear, and when the Anti-Aircraft Gun barrel lines up with it, interact with it to fire and explode the plane. A smoking cog will drop either by the entrance of the Bunker, the zipline at Lab A, or the green water behind Lab B.

If you miss your shot, you will be forced to try to grow another plant for another Anti-Aircraft Shell.

Step 9: Repair the Elevator and Prepare for the Boss Fight

With all 3 cogs acquired, you will want to enter the bunker and take an immediate left, where you will see a rusted wall with a yellow danger sign. Pull out the Skull of Nan Sapwe, and use the LT/L2 attack to reveal a secret wall. Enter inside, and interact with the machinery to place all 3 cogs inside, which will allow you to take the elevator down to the boss.

For the boss fight, you’ll just need the upgraded KT-4, your favorite Perks, a Gas Mask, a Shield, and perhaps the Idle Eyes GobbleGum. This is a very simple boss fight, but it’s always best to come prepared. Now, enter the elevator, destroy the vines with the KT-4 that block your path, and get ready to win.

Step 10: Defeat the Takeo Plant Monster

Once you enter the boss’s room, you can begin the fight by shooting one of the glowing orange spores at the tentacles of the boss with the KT-4. Now, you will want to avoid the cell where the boss is, as he can slam his tentacles down that deal a lot of damage.

Stick to the back of the room and train around the Thrashers and Spiders until one of the boss’s tentacles glows orange, allowing you to shoot it with the KT-4. Simply repeat this until all 4 arms are destroyed, and a cutscene will immediately play, and once it ends, the easter egg is complete.

Like always, progress the next round before you save and quit, reach a game over, or quit the game, just to ensure progress has been saved for the super easter egg!
