Pokemon Legends: ZAs version 1.0.3 patch has been released, fixing a bug introduced with Season 2 that prevented some players from getting their guaranteed Mega Stone rewards from ranked battles. When Pokemon Legends: ZA first came out, it gained online multiplayer support immediately, kicking off Season 1 of competitive ranked battles with the corresponding Greninjite reward for unlocking Mega Greninja in-game. This was obtained upon reaching Rank K, which required a gate of a few hours in ranked battles, but things changed when Season 2 was released on November 5th.
With Season 2, Pokemon Legends: ZAs ranked rewards were changed to Greninjite at Rank Y and Delphoxite at Rank S, making it much easier to get these Mega Stones. However, a bug was inadvertently introduced that made it impossible for some players to obtain any of these Mega Stones. Greninjite was already unlocked in Season 1 for participants, but for those who still had to get it in Season 2, it was bugged along with Delphoxite. Fortunately, this didn't affect all players, but those affected finally have a fix with today's new patch.
Pokemon Legends: ZA players don't have to say goodbye to Mega Greninja after all
After debuting in Season 1 of Pokemon Legends: ZA's online ranked battles, Mega Greninja seems to be sticking around for a while longer.
Pokemon Legends: ZA's Mega Greninja, Delphox, and Chesnaught are finally available to everyone
Pokemon Legends: ZASeason 3 adds Chesnaughtite to the mix of unlockable Mega Stones, and both Greninjite and Delphoxite are once again obtainable early. It's unclear what caused the bug in Season 2, and it's unclear how many players were affected by it. The patch notes say:
-
“In Ranked Battles, even if you reach the rank required to get Mega Stones as rewards, you may not be able to receive them. (This happened in Season 2.),” meaning that some players did not receive Greninjite, Delphoxite, or both when they reached Rank Y and Rank S, respectively. Since these rewards can only be obtained via Ranked Battles, this meant not having them soft-lock both Mega Greninja and Mega Delphox for those affected.
Now players can download Ver. 1.0.3 for the game when they boot up their Nintendo Switch or Switch 2. The download is pretty quick and usually takes a minute or less. For those affected by the Mega Stone bug, they can easily get Greninjite and/or Delphoxite Pokemon Legends: ZA Now. The steps are as follows:
-
Turn on your Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2. If it's already on, press the home button and navigate to Pokemon Legends: ZA to start the patch 1.0.3 download. The game can be open and the process starts anyway. However, the game must be restarted for Ver. 1.0.3 should be installed.
-
Launch Pokemon Legends: ZA when the update is fully downloaded and installed.
-
From within the game, press X to open the menu. From there you navigate to Link Play.
-
Click on ranked battles. This will connect you to the internet and a pop-up screen will appear showing the missing Mega Stones as rewards.
For those who didn't get a chance to get one or more Mega Stones from Ranked Battles, Season 3 rewards are now available. These include:
-
Chesnaughtite – Rank S
-
Delphoxite – Rank V
-
Greninjite – Rank Y
End of season rewards for PLZA Season 2 are also available, including Dream Balls for players who have reached Rank K or higher. These will also be awarded once when you click on Ranked Battles after the end of Season 2.
It's worth noting that the glitch to shine after Alpha Pokémon in Wild Zone 20 has not been fixed with version 1.0.3, and those who are worried that the update may remove this method can safely install the new version of the software. Likewise other shiny hunting businesses in Pokemon Legends: ZA has not been patched.
With season 3, Pokemon Legends: ZA's Zygarde and Diancie are now available to use in ranked battles. Season 3 will run until Wednesday, December 17 at 8:59 PM Eastern, which means fans have quite a bit of time to get their missing Mega Stones and/or the new Chesnaughtite.
For those looking for new teams to try out, Pikachu is OP i Pokemon Legends: ZAs ranked battles, and it can one-shot most non-Ground-type Pokémon in the game. Ice moves or Pokemon are good to deal with Zygarde, and Steel moves or Pokemon are a great counter to Fairy mons.
Finally, Pokemon Legends: ZAs Mega Dimension DLC will launch on December 10th, and the next and final trailer for it will air on December 2nd. It's unclear what will be shown, but probably more new Mega Evolutions, like the leaked Absol Y and Lucario Y.
