Yuta and Maki's ending, explained

Without a doubt, Yuta and Maki had quite a run-in Jujutsu Kaisen from the moment they entered Jujutsu High, joined Gojo Satoru's cause and became established wizards. Their tandem is one of the best, making it hard to deny their obvious chemistry. While Jujutsu Kaisen robbed Maki and Yuta of an on-screen romantic win, and surviving Sukuna's reign of terror together made up for it.

Not to mention, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulowhich has been released as a direct sequel to JJK, has surprisingly confirmed Yuta and Maki's romantic relationship, much to the delight of the YutaMaki relievers. Unfortunately, the author of JJK missed a bitter twist killed Yuta and Maki in the first chapteralmost as if he was daring the readers to continue to believe in their happy ending.

For many fans, seeing Yuta and Maki as an official couple in the Jujutsu Kaisen is a dream come true. After all, they barely survived the fight against Sukuna, especially Yuta, who unethically used Gojo Satoru's deceased body with Kenjaku's forbidden technique to continue fighting. It's a miracle that Yuta and Maki survived, so becoming a couple at the end of JJK is a huge treat for fans.

Moving forward, JJK Modulo Chapter 1 has revealed it Yuta and Maki got married off-screenand they eventually grew old together. Despite their differences, with Maki being the hot-headed one and Yuta being the cool one, their romance blossomed as expected by fans. If only this time of their life was shown in an extra or bonus chapter, fans might have been able to see how their romance developed between JJK and JJK Modulo.

It's never too late for Gege to reveal important details about Yuta and Maki's family life. So far, we're sure that Yuta and Maki built a family like any normal married couple does and had grandchildren, namely Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu, but details about their child, Iori Okkotsu, are still limited. Of course, fans expect Gege to release important information later, which would shed more light on Yuta and Maki's relationship before the events of JJK Modulo.

In just one chapter of JJK Modulo, Gege Akutami made fans happy and sad with the ending of Yuta and Maki's story. Things happened so quickly that fans had to accept their marriage and death at the same time without prior notice. Maki was the first to walk and lived long enough to die of old age. Yuta later followed as his strength weakened after Maki's passing.

In other words, Yuta and Maki had a bittersweet ending. While they lived their married life to the fullest, death still did them part in the end. Even worse, JJK Modulo never showed any core memory of their marriage, from the time they agreed to be together to the moment Yuta mourned Maki's death. Details are still lacking, but that's to be expected considering JJK Modulo will only be a short manga series.

Meanwhile, Yuta and Maki's grandchildren, Yuka and Tsurugi, are making waves in the Jujutsu world as their perfect successors. While Yuka is the current user of the Zenin family's Tenin technique, Tsurugi, per Yuta's request, has Rika by her side. With these power upgrades, Yuka and Tsurugi have become two of the strongest next generation wizards in JJK Modulo.

Iori Okkotsu is the newest addition to the Gojo and Zenin clans, as he is the son of Yuta and Maki in JJK Modulo. At the time of writing, not much is known about Iori, despite his pivotal role as Yuka and Tsurugi's father.

Like Yuji Itadori, Iori's whereabouts are unknown, and it is uncertain what keeps him away from the battlefield even after his children have no choice but to fight Dabura and Maru.

Also, Iori's relationship with Yuta and Maki is still shrouded in mystery. What we do know is that Iori is similar to Yuta, but he lacks the power level to warrant the comparison beyond looks.

Yuta and Maki return in JJK Season 3

While JJK Modulo is ongoing, fans can look forward to seeing Yuta and Maki in action in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3. The third season is expected to raise the stakes higher, with Kenjaku orchestrating the Culling Game, where new and ancient wizards can fight to the death as much as they want.

JJK Season 3 is shaping up to be the best season yet for Yuta and Maki as they engage in intense fights with the most potential to break the internet. Hence, fans should tune in when JJK Season 3 begins, as each episode guarantees a visual spectacle.
