Five titles leave Xbox Game Pass later today, with the November 30 departures included Octopath Traveler 1 and 2. Square Enix's critically acclaimed JRPGs are leaving Microsoft's content catalog at a moment when many fans may have been inclined to play them anyway, making the timing of their impending Xbox Game Pass departure particularly inconvenient for some.
Since losing 13 titles in June 2025, Microsoft's subscription service has limited its monthly removals to single digits. That streak will now come to an end, with five titles having left Xbox Game Pass on November 15 and another group of identical size slated to depart later today.

Barbie Project Friendship is the only title in this departing group to have been on the service for less than a year, having joined Xbox Game Pass on June 11 alongside the PC version of Kingdom Two Crowns. Conversely, SteamWorld Build leaving just before its second anniversary in Microsoft's content catalog, while Lords of the Fallen and both Octopath Traveler All titles have spent approximately 18 months in the XGP library.
Octopath Traveler 1 and 2 are leaving Xbox Game Pass at a really inconvenient time
Although it has been available to Xbox Game Pass members for a while now, Octopath Traveler the series departs at a time of renewed interest in it. It mainly depends on Octopath Traveler 0 to be on the horizon. First announced during the July 2025 Nintendo Direct, the third main program is scheduled to launch on PC and consoles on December 4. While it's not one day an Xbox Game Pass release, this summer's announcement of its late fall debut may have some JRPG fans returning to the first two installments, or playing them for the first time. Given the considerable length of both games, it's likely that not all subscribers who started them in the past few months had time to finish, making the timing of the removal potentially inconvenient. Even without this context, their departure represents a notable loss to the Xbox Game Pass JRPG catalog.
November 2025 has been a huge net positive for the Xbox Game Pass Library
While November 2025 marks the first time since June that Xbox Game Pass has lost double-digit titles in a single month, it was still a significant net positive for Microsoft's subscription service. The library grew by 20 titles in the last 30 days and has added twice as many as it lost, including today's departures.
Looking to the near future, Xbox Game Pass already has five confirmed titles for December 2025. These include Lost Records: Bloom and Rageas well as four day one releases: Marvel Cosmic Invasion, Routine, A game about digging a holeand Dome Keeper. The latter two are already available on other platforms but are still treated as day one Game Pass titles due to their upcoming Xbox console versions being brand new.
