Marvel Cosmic Invasion is now available at Xbox Game Pass over several levels. This day an optional co-op fighting game marks the first addition to Microsoft's December 2025 subscription service, as well as the 210th Xbox Game Pass release since the turn of the year.
Developed by Montreal-based Tribute Games, Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a superhero beat 'em up with 2D pixel graphics and a diverse roster spanning 15 playable characters, including Spider-Man, Captain America, She-Hulk, Venom, Wolverine, Storm and Rocket Raccoon. In addition to the Marvel IP, the game aims to stand out from the genre competition with its so-called Cosmic Swap tag-team system, which allows players to select a pair of superheroes for each level and switch between them at will, creating opportunities for unique combinations.
5 forgotten horror games that deserve to be rediscovered on Game Pass
For Game Pass subscribers, these horror games never got the love they deserve, but now they can (and should) be played on Xbox's streaming platform.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion now available for 2 Xbox Game Pass tiers
Just over eight months after the announcement in March 2025, Marvel Cosmic Invasion has been released for PC, consoles and Xbox Game Pass on December 1st. Tribute Games' beat 'em up can be played through the Ultimate tier of the Xbox subscription service, as well as PC Game Pass. Marvel Cosmic Invasion is the 69th Day One game to join Xbox Game Pass 2025, and the first to debut in December. However, it was officially unveiled as part of the November Wave 2 lineup, while the first wave of December additions is expected to be revealed later this week—most likely on December 2, based on Microsoft's usual announcement schedule.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion possibly coming to Xbox Game Pass Premium Tier in 2026
Ever since Microsoft first released an exclusive benefit of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass in September 2024, the service's middle tier has typically received such titles with a delay of 6 to 12 months. The October 1 rebranding of Xbox Game Pass Standard to Premium saw Microsoft commit to a maximum delay of 12 months for Xbox published games. But because Marvel Cosmic Invasion has another publisher, the timing of its potential XGP Premium launch remains uncertain. If the game is scheduled to remain on the service for at least a year, it could reach the $14.99 per month level for the service as early as mid-2026.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion is another win for the Xbox Game Pass Co-Op Catalog
In the meantime, Marvel Cosmic Invasion strengthens the consistently growing selection of compelling co-op titles on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. While playable solo, it also supports both couch and online co-op for up to four players, with seamless drop-in, drop-out functionality. Early previews suggest that cooperative multiplayer is one of the game's key selling points – alongside its appeal to 80s and 90s nostalgia – with the mode reportedly fully embracing the chaotic energy typical of classic beat 'em ups.

December 2nd is the next key date for Xbox Game Pass members, as it marks the arrival of Lost Records: Bloom & Rage and will likely coincide with the official announcement of the service's (entire) first wave of December releases. The upcoming lineup is already known to include Routinewhich launches on December 4, as well as Dome Keeper and A game about digging a holeboth scheduled to arrive five days later.
