Black Myth: Wukong may be announced for Switch 2 during the February 5th Direct

Reputed leaker Nate the Hate offered a slew of predictions for the Partner Showcase in a February 4 YouTube video, including the claim that Black Myth: Wukong will be announced for the Switch 2. Nate the Hate says that he had previously heard that the game would be coming to the platform at some point, so now he predicts that Nintendo and Game Science will reveal it during the upcoming Direct. When it first came out in 2024, Black Myth: Wukong became the most played single-player game in Steam history, breaking the previous record held by Cyberpunk 2077by nearly 400,000 players in the first 24 hours. Given that track record, coming to Switch 2 could be huge, both for the game expanding its player base and for the platform receiving such a title.

Game Science's Chinese mythology-inspired RPG is big in more ways than one. In addition to its immense popularity, Black Myth: Wukong has a staggering file size, with its PC version clocking in at 130GB, which is more than half of the Switch 2's available storage. The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are smaller, but the game still looks like a test for the system's specs. Especially delayed Game Science Black Myth: Wukong's Xbox release as it didn't hit the performance targets initially, so it might take some work to run well on the Switch 2. That said, games like Cyberpunk 2077 perform without issue on the system, and Game Science has had plenty of time to optimize Wukong since its release.

As with all leaks, fans should take Nate the Hates' prediction with a grain of salt. However, the leaker has a strong history of accuracy. Recently, Nate the Hate accurately stated that Nintendo would be hosting a Partner Showcase on February 5th, and not only the date but also the type of presentation correctly. So his word may carry more weight than a random user claiming to have heard something from an inside source. Meanwhile, it's worth noting that while Nate the Hate seemed confident Black Myth: Wukong When it comes to the Switch 2, the prediction that it will be unveiled at the Partner Showcase sounded more like an educated guess than a guarantee.

Even if Black Myth: Wukong won't be announced for Switch 2 anytime soon, the platform has a strong lineup of third-party titles ahead of it. Nintendo started off with a bang by announcing games like Cyberpunk 2077 when it first revealed the console, and it's been keeping the good times rolling ever since. Later this year, Duskbloods and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is coming to the Switch 2, and it seems these titles may only be scratching the surface.
