World of Warcraft may bring back limited promotional items in patch 12.0.5

World of Warcraft appears to be bringing back several old limited time promotional items from 2024, including the Hateforged Blazecycle mount, via the trade item in Patch 12.0.5. Assuming this is the case, World of Warcraft fans will have another chance to earn items that were otherwise region-locked or behind a paywall.

Blizzard is no stranger to campaigns with external brands. For example, World of Warcraft players who purchase select Trolli products can earn the Gummi the Glow Wyrm pet. That said, many of these promotions were region-locked, limited in inventory, or required the purchase of products ranging in price from snacks to gaming peripherals.

World of Warcraft teases Return to history's least popular expansion

World of Warcraft: Midnight releases what could be a teased return to one of the most divisive expansion packs in the MMO's long history.

Old campaign items may appear in the WoW trade post in patch 12.0.5

It seems though World of Warcraft will give players a second chance to obtain these items in the near future. As of a recently built by World of Warcraft Patch 12.0.5 PTR, several limited time campaign items from 2024 have gained Trader's Tender costs, meaning they will appear in the Trading Post soon. This includes Lil' Flameo, acquired by purchasing SteelSeries peripherals, Sand Scarab, an ancient World of Warcraft TCG reward that became a Twitch Drop, and the coveted Hateforged Blazecycle from the Mountain Dew collaboration.

Assuming these items arrive at Handelsposten at these listed prices, they should be relatively affordable. Hateforged Blazecycle mount from Wow x Mountain Dew collab is currently listed at 500 Trader's Tender, while the pets are 250 each and the tabard is only 100.

There is currently no official word on when or if these items will arrive on the Marketplace. It's possible that they could be spread over several months, and they might not even arrive until after Patch 12.0.5. Even so, Blizzard has said that previous campaign items will eventually make their way to the trading post World of Warcraftand these price lists suggest it may be sooner rather than later. Fans can probably expect other limited items to follow.

This is generally a good thing too World of Warcraft community. As exciting as limited-time campaigns can be, they exploit FOMO to encourage players to spend money and lead to frustration if the events take place outside of their region. Scalpers then hunt down these players, snap up codes and sell them at high costs. World of Warcraft are inundated with promotions right now, so this paradigm shift can at least give fans peace of mind that they'll likely be able to get these items again at some point in the future.
