Summary
-
Video playing protagonists can be small in status but pack a powerful punch, from Kirby to Daxter.
-
Despite their small size, characters such as Olimar and Dwarf from Deep Rock Galactic are struggling hard to save their universe.
-
Short characters like Styx and Mario show that size do not limit their strength or impact in play.
Video game protagonists always strengthen greater personalities than life, feats of impossible strength and endurance, regardless of circumstances. Despite this, however, many of them are surprisingly small, despite their power peel to absurd levels. And hey, we don't complain, we support our short kings and queens here.
From Goliaths you would find fighting in games like the Soulsborne series or God of War, sometimes it is nice to take a step back and look at the smaller characters who fight just as hard to save their universe. Although they also go toe-to-toe with high enemies most of the time, it is more impressive because of their little status and desire to win!
DAXTER
JAK and DAXTERS series
Originally, a human boy, daxter is transformed into an Ottel, which is a mixture between an otter and a Weasel, which immediately makes him one of the most recognizable and fan favorite Playstation characters of all time. It also means that he is very, very short as a result.
While Daxter is more a sidekick for Jak in the series, he simply got his own game with the title “Daxter”, which is enough for us to add him to the list. Look, we all love daxes and know that he is a short, sassy and capable character. Let him have his place in the sun!
Dwarfs
Deep stone Galactic
Rock and Stone, brother! Ahem, sorry for that, it only happens when you pick up deep rock galactic and their practical dwarves. Their survival tactics are unsurpassed and they know how to party. Whatever the way you mine, you cannot deny that they are the definition of short kings.
Deep Rock Galactic is an excellent co-op FPS, and it has everything to do with the dwarves you get to adapt and adventure with. If you were just the average protagonist, would it be almost as good? We don't think!

Teen // blood, mild language, violence
Then we have the teens from the beloved founded survival game from Obsidian Entertainment. While they were teenagers of normal size, they suddenly shrinked down to Itty-Bity size, which made them less than even spiders and ants.
An obvious choice, maybe, but you really can't be much less than this even if you tried. We love our bite -sized heroes and are happy to see them back on it in the recently released sequel. If you love survival games and have not yet dived into grounded, fix it as soon as possible!
Kirby
Kirby series
Another obvious choice is Kirby, everyone's beloved pink food, which will destroy the entire universe in the name of revenge if you steal their cake. Despite his adorable and small status, Kirby is a god that can be incredible power, which is why we love them expensive.
Kirby is always a fun time, and we will always predict their next adventure with bait breath. Kirby was a shoo-in for this list, and everyone knows it. How can you not like this adorable, pink, weapons of mass destruction?!
Elx
Styx: Master of Shadows
Changing steps a bit, our next focus is on Styx, Goblin you adopt control over in Styx: Master of Shadows, an excellent stealth-based game from Cyanide. If you love Dark Fantasy settings and stealth games, while playing as a knee-high Niss, this is the title for you.
Styx is a fantastic character for this style of play, and we cannot imagine being an ORC or other high creature when you are scanty around castles and other fortresses. We love to be short, agile and hard to discover!
Captain Orlims
Pikmin series
Captain Olms floats into the next list, which is another shoo-in. He is barely taller than Pikmin that he collects and orders around, which makes him super small. Which, less than an inch high high. But like all other participants on this list, we love it about him.
His ability to navigate in the tightly packed regions while ordering his army of pikmin to move objects and creating shortcuts is impressive to see and perform. Nintendo loves his short heroes, and we do so too and put Orlims up there with the best of them!
Yoku
Yoku's Island Express
Speaking of Itty Bitty characters, Yoku from Yokus Island Express is next, which is a literal Dung Beetle, as an adventure through a unique Metroidvania -Pinball game, which is shocking fun and engaging from start to end.
Yoku is an adorable character that you root for from the moment you start piloting. If you have itching to play a unique hold of the beloved Metroidvania genre and want to do it as a pint-sized Dungbagge, yes, you now know what is the next on your dock!
Six
Small nightmares
In the opposite end of the spectrum, we have sex from small nightmares, which is drastically different when it comes to tons and games from everything else on this list. This game is exciting, scary and will crawl out from the moment you start playing it. And we can't get enough of it.
Sex is extremely small and is about a third of the size of the adults and the monstrosities that inhabit the terrible world around her. Slowly taking you through each area gives a feeling of fear and prevention, and it depends mainly on how small you are. We love sex and little nightmares!

E // mild imagination violence
When we roll back the ball in the second direction, we have the prince from Katamari Damacy, which is barely below two inches long, which makes him extremely small. But he is still extremely strong, because he can roll massive balls of junk around as if it is nothing.
To say that we are glad that we are finally getting a new part of this beloved series would be an understatement, and we can't wait to come in again and gather different things that are full in every step again!
Mario
Mario series
Finally, of course, we have Mario, who is the short king of the game. While we knew he was always short, it didn't really record how short he was until we played Super Mario Odyssey and saw him next to adults of regular size in New Donk City for the first time.
Mario is very, very short. But when he shows time and time again he is also extremely strong and can swing Bowser around as he is made of paper. Well, we assume he is sometimes actually made of paper, but that's not the point. Mario is the crucial short protagonist in play, and no one can take it from him!
