Bird watching in Heartopia is one of the game's most soothing and rewarding pastimes. It encourages players to slow down and really explore the island. From quiet forests to bustling villages and hidden coastal paths, birds are almost everywhere.

Each bird you photograph is added to your collection, helping you track discoveries and earn rewards. Some birds appear frequently, while others only appear during specific weather conditions or times of day, making completion a satisfying long-term goal for dedicated players. Updated by Usama Ali on February 25, 2026: The winter frost season in Heartopia has introduced a bunch of winter variants of familiar species. These birds seem to be chilled with charming accessories like hats, scarves and winter caps. While most winter birds are easy to find, a few rare varieties only appear during specific event phases. Photographing all the winter birds is a surefire way to make sure you don't miss any of the Winter Frost Event activities. This guide has been updated with all the information about the winter birds in Heartopia.

How to unlock Birdwatching in Heartopia

Bird watching is not available out of the box and requires some early progression. The hobby becomes available as part of the developer level 6 questline. When you reach this level you will be directed to Bailey J. During your call, Bailey J. introduces the birding system. You will then be asked to speak with the other hobby mentors before choosing your next hobby. You must give Bailey J. the Hobby Expansion Ticket to unlock birding.

After unlocking this hobby, you can start your birding journey in Heartopia and start photographing these little creatures around the valley. At the time of writing, there are around 60 birds in the game. Here you can find them.

The winter frost season also introduces festive bird varieties. Most winter birds are familiar species dressed for the cold, making them easy to recognize once you know what to look for. These birds only appear during the winter frost season.

To find these birds, you must interact with the birding unit set up by Bailey J., which starts the winter birding event. During the event, all winter birds will begin spawning around Suburban Lake.
