Where to find bricks in Pokemon Pokopia

Despite being a core building material in the rela world, you need to make significant progress within Pokemon Pokopia before unlocking Brick. Some of the materials you use before, like Lumber, make sense to come before Brick. It is clearly a more simplified building material, and is therefore earlier in the pecking order.

Unlocking Brick after the likes of Copper Ingots and Glass makes a little less sense, but let's not argue about that. In fact, Brick doesn't become a mandatory material until the game's third area, Bleak Beachand this is where you will get to start making Brick for yourself.

How to make bricks

Like getting Ignots from Ore, Bricks aren't something you find on your own. Instead you collect the raw materials and then transform them. In the case of Brick, it is the raw material Squishy Clay.

Squishy Clay can be found by using Rock Smash on the brown land cubes in Bleak Beach. There is plenty of it in buildings flooded with water when you arrive, pass by the abandoned Poke Centerand scattered around the beaches. Smash these land cubes and they will drop Squishy Clay.

If you study alchemy (or even just know how things work) then you've guessed that you need to heat up Squishy Clay. But unlike ore and ash, Squishy Clay does not go in the Melting Furnace. Instead, you must find a Torchic, who will produce two bricks for each Squishy Clay, and who can turn 10 Squishy Clays into 20 bricks at a time.

Where to find Torchic

Torchic has a pretty unique habitat, but thankfully not one you'll probably struggle to build. This is Chirp-Chirp meal, which requires a wooden birdhouse, a table and plated food. Behind the Poke Center on the right, you'll find all the components, minus food, that are already set up.

Just put the plate on the table (it's currently off to the side) and then put a regular food like a Leppa Berry on the plate. Once you've created this habitat, check in regularly to see the birdhouse rattle. If it is, interact and you'll find a Torchic inside.

What are bricks used for in Pokemon Pokopia?

In Bleak Beach, there are two important construction projects that require Brick. Apparently there is Poke Centerwhich requires 20 bricksas well as 10 yarn, 10 sea glass fragments and 5 iron ore. Torchic can make so much Brick in one sitting, but the first time it turns Squishy Clay into Brick, it will only accept one Squishy Clay to show you how it works.

There is also, between the Poke Center and Smeargle's artist hideout, another opportunity to build. This is the Pikach Fountain, which demands 10 bricks. This means that in total you will need 30 Brick, and therefore 15 Squishy Clay to make them. Torchic can do this in two sittings, or three if you count the first encounter where it only ends up being two.
