When you get through Pathological 3s winding story, you have the chance to save people, condemn others and generally change the history of the city. From the beginning of the game, once you've unlocked time travel, you're introduced to several souls who need some help from Daniil Dankovsky.
Rubin is one of those people, and he needs… quite a bit of help. Saving him on day 3 will make him tell you to visit him the following day. Trying to do so, however, is a fool's errand: he's been buried alive.
How to Save Ruby on Day 4
The first requirement for this thought assignment is that you save Rubin's life on day 3. This is what allows him to survive long enough to be threatened on Day 4.
When you wake up on day 4 you can talk to Grace at Stillwater to learn about a person who was buried alive in the cemetery. This is Ruby, of course. To save him you must get to the graveyard immediately – Time is of the essence with this mission, if you try to save him too late in the day he will be dead.
When you arrive at the graveyard, go to southeast corner of the map. Here you will find a fresh grave with one clock on top of it.

If the bell is ringingyou know that Ruby is still alive and can be dug out (you will need a shovelhowever!).

If the clock is silent, Rubin is dead and you have to restart the day to try again. Thankfully, restarting a day (without switching days) costs no Amalgam.
It is practical to tackle this mission sooner rather than later – The more quests you complete in a given day, the later your day starts when you start the day again. If you save Ruby for last, you won't have much time at all to save him.
Where to find a shovel
Fortunately, the spade is in a handy place – in the cemetery!
It is specific leaning against the building near the entrance to the cemetery. Once you pick up the shovel, it will remain in your inventory for the rest of the game.
