The Penguin trough is lies just below the Old SeaRight before you reach the Snow Concert Portal Peninsula. As you approach the peninsula, look slightly below the Old Sea, and you'll see the trough tucked away along the path.
It's easy to run past if you're focused on the portal itself, so slow down as you approach the entrance to the Snow Concert area. Once you find it, you can return daily without having to search again.
