Smart Factory Tycoon has been free to claim on Steam since Saturday, January 17th. The newly launched offer equates to $14.99 in savings. While the game has seen frequent discounts since its launch in early 2022, dropping as low as $0.89 (94% off), the current promotion is the first time ever that it's literally being given away to PC gamers. Steam users can add Smart Factory Tycoon to their accounts free of charge until Tuesday 20 January at 10:00 AM PT / 1:00 PM ET / 7:00 PM CET.

Smart Factory Tycoon is published by GrabTheGames, who often use Steam freebies to promote their other packs on Valve's marketplace. The same seems to be the case this time, with Smart Factory Tycoons giveaway coincides with deep discounts on three packs containing the game. One of them combines the 2022 title with Retail business simulatora shop management sim from 2024 that is played entirely in first person and also supports online co-op. Another bundle Smart Factory Tycoon with Sporting goods storean early 2025 game from the same developer behind Retail business simulatorBusiness Tycoon. Finally, Turquoise Revival's entire Steam portfolio pack is also currently on sale, available for $9.43, or 86% off. All three sales are framed as part of special promotions that run until the end of January 2026.
Smart Factory Tycoon is likely to appeal to fans of traditional management simulations and factory automation games, not least because it contains elements of both. The game focuses on designing modular factories staffed by robots, which can be purchased and upgraded. It also tasks players with following a variety of market trends, investing in new product lines and optimizing production through, among other things, renewable energy and advanced assembly technology.
The ongoing Steam distribution covers the full, content version of the game. A separate free-to-play edition – mainly the prologue – is called Smart Factory Tycoon: Beginnings also available at Valve's storefront. While the full game has 66.33% positive user reviews on Steam, placing it in Valve's “Mixed” category, the prologue version is rated “Mostly Positive” with a 73.10% approval rating. OpenCritic does not offer an average score or rating for Smart Factory Tycoon due to having too few reviews in its database to draw from. However, the only review on record is positive, describing the game as fun and accessible, but occasionally boring during periods of waiting for upgrade funds to flow in.
