Summary
-
Paramount has released a first trailer and revealed a release window for Twisted Metal season two.
-
The trailer ends with a shoulder tease, a character from the games that is just a guy with wheels connected to the arms.
-
Season two first trailer also gave the first look at Mr. Grimm and Dollface.
With almost all video games mature for the adaptation treatment, Twisted metal was revived and turned into a TV show in 2023. Something of a deep cut according to someone's standards, but clearly the show was a hit when Twisted Metal gets a second season. It is not something that is guaranteed for all shows in the current landscape.
Paramount has confirmed when season two of Twisted Metal will debut through its first trailer. Anthony Mackie premieres this summer will return as John Doe with some other riders from season one who joins him, including Samoa Joe's Sweet Tooth. Twisted Metal fans are more concerned about the characters from the games that will be new to the show during season two.

The Throwback character that has generated the most interest since the trailer dropped is one that we didn't even get a real look at – Axel. Season two debut trailer ends with someone putting their hand in the wheel gears. For the uninitiated, that character is, you guessed it, Axel.
Shoulder in live-action boggles mind
Axel's absence from season one was not surprising because adapting the character and his Live-Action vehicle will be difficult to do. Axel does not technically drive a vehicle because he is a vehicle. Axel sticks his hands in two wheels and he goes away. Exactly how Paramount plans to translate it into a live-action TV program remains unclear. I guess we'll find out this summer.
Oh wait, his name is Axel because he is Axis. I just got it.
Although he was one of Twisted Metal's simplest pattern, Axel was one of the game's wilder ideas. The great thing about a video game is mostly, you don't have to worry about what something will look like in real life, or even what you create really would work. I cannot imagine that it even crossed the senses of Axel's designers that someone would try to find out how to make the concept reality for a TV show Spinoff 30 years later.
Axel is not the only character from the twisted metal list that will make his TV show debut during season two. The trailer gave us a much better look at Dollface and Mr. Grimm than it did on shoulder since we saw their faces and not just their hand. In Paramount's defense, if we were shown shoulder without his wheels, we probably would not have known who we were looking at for sure.
Although the twisted metal show was successful enough to get a second season, that success does not seem to have transferred back to the video game world. A live -Service Twisted Metal game apparently in works at Playstation was reportedly interrupted in 2024. It has been 13 years and two console generations since the last Twisted Metal game.
