Monitoring and April Fools' Day have gone hand in hand for a while now, as one of the funniest patches of the year sees the game overhauled with a wide variety of gags. What is immediately recognizable are the googly eyes that stick to Monitorings heroes, and they look just as goofy as you'd hope. Even better is the special LTM which is meant to look like it was accidentally uploaded by Team 4, and appears as a text string via the in-game (or in this year's case, Underwatch) menu. The mode is treated as a parody of balance updates where heroes are given crazy abilities that make a joke of community discussions, with some humorous patch notes from Blizzard and new voice lines for the characters. Yet this year, all I can think of is an unofficial April Fool's joke.
In addition to Underwatch, MonitoringThe latest April Fool's Day celebration has a Pachimari program icon on the taskbar, which acts as an extra little joke for PC users.
Overwatch officially reveals the next hero
Overwatch is pulling back the curtain on the hero coming in Reign of Talon Season 2, giving fans a first look at the next playable character.
Overwatch's DC Collab is obviously fake, but it still hurts
With Marvel Rivals existing now, the dream of one Monitoring and the Marvel collaboration is pretty much dead, but there's still hope for a team-up with DC, a comic book brand I love just as much. That's why I had a big smile on my face when I opened Reddit this morning and saw a post with a screenshot from Overwatch Cavalry, an unofficial source that breaks down updates and highlights Monitoring skin leaks and more. My eyes were drawn to Superman Soldier: 76, Batman Cassidy and Wonder Woman Vendetta, with the last combo fitting so perfectly (and the model looking so good) that I bought it straight away. Then I read the caption.
In Overwatch Cavalry's defense, the joke is made perfectly clear. April 31st isn't a real day, for one, and why would Cassidy be cast as a character who hates guns (especially when Genji is around, since his shuriken can easily be swapped out for Batarangs)? There is even a mention of the fictional game DC Allies to drive home the gag. But as one of the many, many people who forgot what day it was and got fooled by an April Fool's joke, I'm still heartbroken. See, as well done as this joke is, it's also my most desired Monitoring collab and something I've been hoping to confirm for a long time now.

What other skins would work for a DC x Overwatch Collab?
As a proud owner of over 100 DC Omnibuses, it didn't take long to come up with a line of skins that could be added that go far beyond The Trinity (Supes and Bats should definitely go to different heroes instead of Soldier and Cassidy – maybe Rein and Genji – but I love the idea of Vendetta x Wonder Woman). Potential DC and Monitoring collab skins can be, but are definitely not limited to:
-
Cyborg Doomfist
-
Starfire Illari
-
Gorilla Grodd Winston
-
Red Hood Reaper
-
Pharah Hawkgirl
-
Joker Junkrat

Unless James Gunn gets his wish and a DC hero shooter to compete Marvel Rivals actually is done i need blizzard and dc to work together like yesterday. The skins above only scratch the surface of what a collaboration between the two properties could look like, as it could easily warrant multiple rounds of skins. With maps themed around places like Gotham and LTMs giving heroes DC-like abilities that are just as viable, I'll keep hoping this April Fool's Day isn't the closest we'll ever get to such a collaboration. More than any other joke I've seen today, this idea is a true case of “if I don't laugh, I'll cry.”
