The strongest Rock Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: ZA

Rock-type Pokemon may not be the most abundant in Pokemon Legends: ZA, but there are still incredibly strong Rock-types to choose from once you progress through the Mega Dimension DLC. Whether you limit yourself to just the best pseudo-legendary Pokémon or you don't mind dipping into the pool of powerful legendary options, you'll find what you're looking for here.

Some of the strongest rock-type Pokemon require you to jump through a few hoops or wait until you're well into the endgame to access them, but there are options from the start as well.

Rock Pokémon from the base game are included, but the context of the Mega Dimension DLC Rogue Mega battles is used to determine the most viable options.

Kleavor stands out as one of the best pure offensive rock options out there, despite its inferior Special Defense that makes it vulnerable to many enemies. But if deployed against physical attackers that can't exploit any of this Pokemon's three weaknesses, Kleavor can survive long enough to sweep teams, or at least put a dent in the enemy's options.

The main character stands next to a Crabominable in Pokemon Legends: ZA.

Mega Dimensions Ice types offer huge upgrades.

Aside from its weaknesses, Kleavor's worst quality is its lack of resistances or immunities to compensate for its weak defensive stats, with only two resistances to normal and fighting-like moves. However, Fighting is usually a major weakness for Rock-type Pokémon, so turning it into a resistance is good enough to earn Kleavor a spot among the best Rock options in the Mega Dimension DLC.

Despite having the same Base Stat Total (BST) as Kleavor, Garganacl has a much better distribution of his stats, which comes at the cost of Special Attack and Speed. However, since Garganacl doesn't really need that stat to function, it gets a huge advantage in its defensive capabilities and even has a very solid 100 in Attack to use powerful rock-type moves like Stone Edge.

Unfortunately, as a pure Rock type, Garganacl is weak against five types: Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground, and Steel. On the other hand, this Pokémon benefits from its five resistances to Normal, Fire, Flying, Ghost, and Poison types, allowing it to shine when placed in situations where it doesn't worry about being hit by super-effective moves.

Garganacl suffers from ZA's lack of abilities, or it could have climbed much higher among the top rock-type Pokémon.

Tyrantrum offers a more specialized rock-type attack option thanks to a strong 121 Attack stat that allows this Pokémon to one-hit KO many vulnerable opponents, such as Charizard and other Flying-types. Although you have to keep this Pokémon well away from special attackers like Gardevoir, Tyrantrum can easily take out its opponents with its raw strength and solid movement.

Giga Impact, Head Smash, Earthquake, and Outrage are all powerful moves that take advantage of Tyrantrum's Attack stat and provide plenty of firepower to sweep up against weakened enemies if you want to use Tyrantrum as a power-up. Avoid using this Pokemon as your go-to tank, and you won't notice most of its vulnerabilities.

Aerodactyl's BST isn't much to write home about when it comes to its base form, but this Pokémon's Mega Evolution offers massive improvements. 135 Attack and 150 speed are the highlights of Mega Aerodactyl's enhanced BST, and are a deadly combination to sweep up enemies in an instant.

Both of its defenses get a big boost to help keep Aerodactyl alive, but you're best off using this Pokémon against flying and bug-type enemies, as they usually have no answer to keeping this Pokémon in check. Even in dangerous situations, you may be able to unleash two attacks to each of your enemies, giving the Aerodactyl a distinct advantage as a fast KO machine.

Terrakion returns in the Mega Dimension DLC with a solid BST that makes it useful against most opponents if you don't mind working around its set of seven weaknesses. Terrakion's access to powerful moves like Stone Edge, Close Combat, and Head Smash make it a viable attack option for everyday use, though it might not be the best choice for Rogue Mega Battles.

This Pokemon's moves and solid BST are great, but perhaps the biggest criticism of Terrakion is when it becomes available later in the DLC's endgame. Unfortunately, when you get Terrakion, it likely won't be much more than a trophy, as you've most likely added one of the best rock-type Pokémon in the DLC to your team when you find this legendary sword.

Glimmora got a major boost in the Mega Dimension DLC thanks to her new Mega Evolution which boosts her BST to much more impressive levels. 150 Special Attack is the highlight of this Pokémon's Mega form, but a quadruple weakness to ground-type attacks limits Glimmora's usefulness as a generalist.

However, Glimmora shines as a specialist, especially against Fairy- and Fire-type Pokémon, as its moves can hit both types for super-effective damage, while resisting their attacks. It might not be the best Mega Evolution you can find among Rock-type Pokemon, but Glimmora still makes a solid case as one of the best new options you can find when adventuring through Hyperspace Lumiose.

As a pseudo-legendary Pokémon, Tyranitar is already strong in its base form, but this Pokémon's Mega Evolution takes it to a new level, even though it is one of the oldest Mega forms at this point. After Mega Evolving, Tyranitar's Attack explodes to 164 while its Defense jumps to 150 and 120 respectively, making for an incredibly well-rounded Pokémon capable of decimating enemies.

The only major downside to this incredibly powerful Pokémon is its quadruple weakness to Fighting-type moves, not to mention its weakness to six other prominent types. Tyranitar's best defense against its vulnerabilities is the strength of its offense, which can allow it to KO most opponents in an instant.

Diancie is an incredibly strong addition to the best Rock-type Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: ZA, and its Mega Evolution only makes it stronger. Diancie has 160 in both attack stats, allowing it to use a variety of moves, including some powerful cover options.

Most of Diancy's damage-dealing potential comes from Diamond Storm and Moonblast, with the former having a chance to raise her defense by two stages. Diancy's main vulnerability is a quadrupled weakness to Steel-type moves, but luckily it only fears three other types while having five resistances and complete immunity to Dragon-type attacks.

The main character stands next to a Staraptor in Pokemon Legends: ZA.
