Players can find some of the strongest protagonists in major JRPG series such as Dragon Quest, Final Fantasyand Shin Megami Tensei. They might recognize characters like Sora, Shulk, and Kaim as well. Overall, the following characters have some sort of extra skills that go beyond normal weapon prowess or magical mastery.
10 Video Game Characters That Are The Definition Of Legendary
There are tons of memorable video game characters, but there are only a select few that can truly be called legendary.
They may belong to an ancient race, can transform or manipulate time. Be that as it may, messing with these heroes is not recommended. Their ranking will take into account how strong they really are, and sometimes it takes more than immortality to become number one.
There will be some minor spoilers for some of these entries, but nothing major will be revealed to diminish what makes these stories and characters great.

Stock
Time And Eternity
Stocke is the main character in Brilliant Historywho starts as an ordinary soldier who almost dies at the beginning of the game. He is then given a magical book that allows him to reverse time, which is tied to the progression of the game.
If an incident proves too challenging in the present, Stocke can go back in time and change things to make life a little easier. This doesn't give him amazing powers in battle, but the power of time still ranks him higher than most JRPG heroes, and time overall is an interesting mechanic for a JRPG.
9
The Celestrian
A higher calling
The main character in Dragon Quest 9: Sentinels of the Starry Skywhich players can customize as a male or female, is a Celestrian. They exist on a different plane of existence than the mortal realm, but after an incident, players are thrown down to the surface to live as humans.
Among all Dragon Quest heroes, the Celestrian stands out because of their ties to the Holy Land and because players can potentially make them a god via the class system, called a Summoning. By maxing out the stats in each summon, they can create an unstoppable soldier, which makes sense given their race.

Kaim Argonar
A God among mortals
Kaim is one of the central immortals in the Lost Odysseywhich has the standard JRPG trope of amnesia. Kaim and his fellow immortals cannot be killed by normal means, and their powers are also so great that they are sought after as allies to fight in war, which many characters try to avoid, as mixing with mortals can be messy.
Still, over the course of the campaign, Kaim must show his strength and awaken more powers as he remembers. His power levels are pretty standard for JRPG heroes for the most part, but the fact that he's immortal elevates his status above others.

M // Blood, partial nudity, sexual themes, strong language, violence
The player starts as a normal student at the beginning of Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturnebut after an apocalyptic event awakens the city, they are transformed. They wake up in the ruins to find that their body has changed, and they are now an entity known as the Demi-Fiend.
Game characters who are too into themselves
The video game characters are so self-absorbed and arrogant that they need a serious reality check before their egos become visible from space.
Stronger than a human and able to manipulate demons, various factions will attempt to acquire the protagonist's powers, the full extent of which is hidden from the players for most of the game, ending as most Shin Megami Tensei games tend to, with players displaying powers of pure divinity. Standard powers include the strength to withstand devastating attacks, the ability to gain the powers and trust of demons, and the ability to access areas that most cannot.
6
Valvatorez
A Fisher ruler of the underworld
Valvatorez is one of the most feared Overlords in the world Disgaea series, which is the ruler of the underworld. Before Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten's events, Valvatorez's strength could not be matched, but after gaining and losing love, he vowed to retire from his power-hungry days and live out his days eating sardines instead of sucking blood like a ravenous vampire.
This is why players start out weaker, which makes sense considering it wouldn't be fun if players started at max level 9999. As players level him up, they'll start to unlock his powers again, and his AoE attacks are wildly exaggerated, giving players insight into why Valvatorez is still so terrifying even among other demons.
5
Sora
Not even his final form
Sora is the main character throughout Kingdom Hearts saga, and his powers are at their strongest in the latest main entry, Kingdom Hearts 3. In addition to having the power to seal and open worlds with its keyblade, the weapon can transform in battle to become anything from a weapon to a hammer to a spear.
Sora can also summon Disney attractions, such as teacups, mid-battle, and they can affect large areas. The final battle puts his powers to the test and unleashes his potential as he calls upon Keyblade warriors from the past in a mighty display of strength, which is still only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Sora's true power: his heart.
4
Yuito Sumeragi
The power of friends
Yuito Sumeragi and Kasane Randall are the dual protagonists of Scarlet Nexusbecause players can choose at the beginning who to play with. They have similar powers as they can both link to party members in battle to use their talents, transform into powerful states, and use telekinesis to damage enemies.
Their weapons differ, but they are both skilled warriors with what they are given. Yuito has a slight advantage over Kasane in the story, as his powers and decisions lead to a version of himself going back in time to become stronger. He cannot freely manipulate time like Stocke i Brilliant Historybut overall, Yuito has more in common with a powerful anime protagonist pushing his limits every day than a JRPG hero.
3
Shulk
The power of second sight
Shulk is the hero in the first Xenoblade Chronicleswho starts out as a simple mechanic before stumbling upon the power of the Monado, which is more than just a cool sword. After synchronizing his mind with the weapon, Shulk gains the power of second sight, allowing him to avoid attacks before they occur. The further players get into the story, the greater powers Shulk will grow, such as gaining a greater ability to manipulate time.
8 Gaming Characters Who Talk a Big Game, But Can't Back It Up
They may talk big and brag all day, but these game characters end up panting when it matters most.
The blade itself can produce a variety of abilities in addition to a psychic time link, including devastating laser slashes. By the end of the game, Shulk becomes fully associated with the Monado, taking on a more ethereal status as if he has reached a new plane of existence.
2
Alear
A divine dragon among us
Fire Emblem Engage is one of the easiest games in the Fire emblem series because characters like Alear, the male or female lead, can transform. Alear has a ring that allows them to harness the power of a former hero to fuse and become more powerful. Alear's ring speaks to Marth, the original game's protagonist, but there are more rings that players can find in the campaign to allow other party members to use fusion as well.
Unique to Alear is their race, as they are a divine dragon, which doesn't mean much at first, but players can eventually transform into a powerful dragon. Between the ring fusions and the dragon form, Alear is a standout leader in the franchise and easily one of the strongest of all JRPGs.
1
Clive Rosfield
The power of Ifrit
Clive from Final Fantasy 16 is arguably the most powerful JRPG hero and the easiest to quantify based on in-game displays of power. Clive is known as a Dominant, meaning he can control the power of this game's version of Summons called an Eikon. Clive can use Ifrit's powers in battle and even becomes a Kaiju version of Ifrit in boss battles for some of the coolest set-pieces in the franchise.
Not only that, but Clive is able to steal powers from other Dominants throughout the story, such as the power of Earth's Eikon, the Titan. Flash from Final Fantasy 13 deserves an honorable mention among them Final Fantasy leads because she basically becomes a god throughout the trilogy, but since her rise to power doesn't peak until the end of the third game, Clive is the obvious choice.
