A new, user-created challenge i The Sims 4 puts a new spin on mermaids, transforming them into wicked and alluring sirens from the deep. Mermaids are usually not one of the most popular The Sims 4s Occult Sim variants, but this fresh, chaos-filled challenge may make players look at them in a new, terrifying way.
Mermaids were first introduced as part of The Sims 4s Island Living expansion, which was first released in 2019. Located in the tropical district of Sulani, Island Living introduced a bunch of features that The Sims 4 players can expect a full DLC, including new careers, Create-a-Sim options, a quest, and traits for both Sims and Lottery. But it's probably best remembered for the mermaid's first appearance, Sims who appear normal when on land but become mythological aquatic creatures when submerged in water, and can unleash a number of magical abilities by consuming their unique thirst meter.

New Sims 4 challenge makes mermaids terrifying
A recently released challenge from a devoted fan asks players to reconsider using mermaid powers for nefarious purposes, and to post a list of mischievous tasks they must complete in order to behave like the lore's murderous sirens. As revealed on Reddit by user doveevob, players participating in the Little Siren Challenge will need to create one Sims 4 mermaid in a very specific way. On the creation screen, these Sims should be given the Romantic, Child of the Ocean, and Evil traits, and their starting career should be as a singer. Starting at 20,000 Simoleans, their starting home should be placed next to the ocean in Sulani, giving them easy access to the water and the right behaviors and motivation to lure men to their doom.

After creation, the challenge really begins, as players must complete three different Sims 4 aspiration tracks, all of which can be found as part of the free-to-play base game. Players will need to max out the challenges of Public Enemy, Chief of Mischief, and Villainous Valentine, which will require them to pull a variety of pranks, perform voodoo, get into physical fights, break hearts, end relationships between other Sims, and even witness death. But since sirens are fickle creatures, the challenges don't end there, as they will also need to complete several specific tasks, including having at least 10 declared enemies, maxing out romance bars, and collecting at least 15 urns, reflecting the mythological creatures' penchant for seduction and leading sailors to their deaths.
Completing these missions won't be as simple as performing these tasks in any way players choose, as the rules state that they must follow a specific set of restrictions that mark them as true Sirens. Players will only be able to earn money from The Sims 4 by stealing, bribing, borrowing it, diving for treasure or singing, which makes the extra task of getting 10 in singing, mischief and charisma skills all the more important. They'll also need to pick up some related traits along the way, and earning perks like Great Kisser, Beguiling, Shameless, Tormentor, and Mastermind will both help them achieve their goals and fit in with mythological creatures.
Very Sims 4 players seem quite fond of the idea of the Little Siren Challenge, which breathes new life into the Island Living expansion more than six years after its initial release. For players looking to push the challenge even further while incorporating some more modern content, there are even a couple of optional tasks they can complete to complete the siren theme, including mastering the Master of Grudges quest that was recently released through the free Lost Legacies event and the Blast from the Past quest that was introduced through a limited-time questline in February 2025.
