The pros and cons of David Corenswet reprising his role in a DC video game

The Superman Reboot film is finally here, and it goes far towards reviving the steel man in the wake of DCEU. DC Comics is on the downed by a potential transformatively new chapter, as Guardians of the Galaxy Director James Gunn has entered the Mastermind role and planned exciting restarts of several different DC properties, not just Superman.

According to Gunn, this next chapter will not be limited to the silver screen. In a DC Comics blog post, Gunn stated that upcoming DC projects will “all be intertwined within the same universe”, regardless of their medium, and this includes video games. Gunn has also said that actors from the new DC films will repeat their roles in “other things”, which indicates that there may be a lot of synergy between film, animation, games and other creative efforts, to the point where they can all be considered part of the same franchise. This means that the generally celebrated new face by Superman, David Corenswet, could have repeated performances in Superman Video games, which can come up with some important advantages and disadvantages.

Why DC video gaming fans should look at James Gunn's Superman very close

Apart from being part of the same franchise, there is another reason why fans of DC games should keep an eye on James Gunn's Superman.

Should David Corenswet repeat his role in a Superman video game?

David Corenswet would make future Superman games more consistent with the movies

It was once for a while when almost every major blockbuster seemed to get a kind of video game-tie. Such games were shaped around the plots in their respective films, and sometimes presented even the same actor – Tobey Maguire's role in Spider-Man 2Adaptation of video games is perhaps the most well -known example of this.

But things are different now, and with video games that are more accepted as equal to film as a narrative medium, they can tell more original stories that go beyond the scope of their source material. A David Corenswet Superman game could wipe out the character via side adventure, or even stories that take place between films and offer additional insight into Gunn's growing DC universe. By keeping David Corenswet in the leading role, these games would be as an addition of DC Comics films, put them in line with these blockbuster and create a more extensive fictitious universe.

To take back corenswet for a superman -would come with many strings

One of the reasons why Marvel's spider Games work so well is that they work within their own continuity, with their own set of rules: Insomniac has more or less free reins with regard to what characters and concepts it wants to include in its games, as well as how these concepts and characters are presented. About, as Gunn says, any future Superman Games are directly linked to the film series, then they would not have such freedom.

This can have direct consequences, such as not being able to rush players against certain villains because of their current or future status in the film continuity, but also more subtle, such as Hog-Tying The Games to Corenswet's depiction of Superman.

There are also more practical issues that need to be addressed. Video games become more and more expensive to produce, and superhero games like Marvel's Blade turns out to be particularly costly. With corenswet as a rising star in the film industry thanks Superman movie, his inclusion in a Superman Video games can come up with a hefty price tag, potentially to the disadvantage of the game's other elements.
