The Pokemon TCG just revealed its latest Mega Legendary Pokemon card

The Pokemon Trading Card Game has officially revealed the latest set coming to the card game in Japan, with Mega Evolution of Zygarde as its headliner. The newest era of the beloved TCG has taken plenty of inspiration from the last game in the franchise, including plenty of Pokemon used within Pokemon Legends: ZA. Mega Evolution welcomed the return of the titular mechanic to Pokemon TCG for the first time since 2016, including Mega forms of beloved Pokemon such as Gardevoir, Lucario and Charizard. Now, Pokémon has even more exciting Legends: ZA content coming to TCG.

Mega Evolution era of Pokemon TCG has already seen several sets released, welcoming Mega Pokémon back to the TCG in style. Beyond the expected Mega Pokémon, plenty of past ones Pokémon protagonists and main characters have received new cards, including Lillie, Dawn and Wally, among several others. The card game's latest era has also introduced a whole new rarity to the game, with the elusive Mega Hyper Rare cards replacing the previous Hyper Rares with greatly reduced draw speeds. The Pokemon TCG is now teasing its next big set in Japan, finally adding Mega Zygarde to the game.

The Pokemon Company showed off the new Munikis Zero set coming to the Pokemon TCG in Japan, teasing Mega Zygarde along with several other cards. Mega Zygarde ex will serve as the spotlight Pokemon for the set, with powerful attacks that either reduce an opponent's damage or potentially deal up to 900 damage. Mega Zygarde wasn't the only new ex Pokemon shown during the live stream, with Meowth ex allowing players to search their decks for supporter cards. New cards for Binacle and Barbaracle were also showcased during the event, to provide powerful energy support for Fighting-type decks. The Pokemon TCG's Muniki's Zero expansion will be released in Japan on January 23rd.

The new Pokémon revealed for Muniki's Zero were joined by a collection of powerful trainer cards coming to the TCG. Two new supporter cards based on Pokemon Legends: ZA Characters will join the game, with Naveen allowing players to restore their hands while Tarragon recovers Fighting Pokemon and Energies from the discard pile. Pokemon Legends: ZA's Lumiose City also gets a new Stadium card in the set, allowing either player to get a Basic Pokémon from deck to bench at the cost of ending their turn. Fighting Pokemon even get a new Special Energy card, which negates the non-damaging effects of attacks from an opponent's Pokemon.

When is Munikis Zero coming to the English Pokemon TCG?

Although the set has not seen an official announcement for its English version, Pokémon fans should expect to see Muniki's Zero arrive in Western markets. The set is expected to be released as the fourth major expansion in the Japanese version of the TCG after Mega Dream ex, and is likely to be launched as a main set due to its association with Pokemon Legends: ZA. Given the staggered release schedule for the global version of the Pokemon TCGfans can likely expect to see Muniki's Zero's worldwide equivalent release in late March or early April 2026.

Pokémon giving fans every reason to be excited about the future of TCG going into 2026. The Pokemon TCG will kick off the year with the release of the Ascended Heroes set, with new Mega Evolutions for each Pokemon Legends: ZA Starter Pokemon. The expansion also brings back some of 2025's most popular mechanics, including Stellar Tera Pokemon and Trainer's Pokemon, along with the all-new Mega Attack Rare rarity.
