The GTA 6 source code is reportedly out there and could possibly be leaked

Despite Rockstar's strict security and mandate, we got a massive GTA 6 gameplay leak in September 2022. The leaker, Arion Kurtaj, was already cleared of hacking, and this violation landed him in jail in the UK. However, it seems they have reportedly managed to smuggle in a phone and just dropped another bomb.

According to videotechuk_ (aka ben), Kurtaj has claimed that the GTA 6 source code is said to be in the wild but hasn't been leaked yet. If this is true, it means that one of the most anticipated games of all time could see cheap knockoffs coming in very soon.

GTA 6 source code may reportedly leak soon

“Now word is slowly spreading: Arion Kurtaj (the infamous Grand Theft Auto VI 2022 leaker) has allegedly smuggled a phone into a UK prison,” the tweet said. “While I won't be sharing screenshots of WhatsApp chats (I'm sure they'll surface soon), Arion seemed surprised that the Grand Theft Auto VI source code wasn't leaked and seemed to suggest that the source code could potentially be in someone's hands.”

There are several things to consider here. First, Kurtaj is said to have relayed this information from prison via a contraband phone. This information is not entirely easy to verify. Subsequently, while Whatsapp messages from Kurtaj suggest that someone has the GTA 6 source code, screenshots have not been revealed yet. A recreated exchange shows two users talking to the hacker, where he says the GTA 6 source code is “definitely somewhere.” He then asked if it was leaked online and declined to comment after being told it wasn't.

Given the size of the original leak, it's very possible that the source code is in the hands of someone who shouldn't have it. Although it is difficult to verify the facts due to the way this story has developed. As for why the source code hasn't been leaked yet, it's likely that someone will pay big bucks for it if it is indeed leaked.

We'll keep an eye on this story and update it as it develops.
