Magic: The Gathering has officially revealed a slew of cards from the upcoming Secrets of Strixhaven set, showcasing some powerful cards and stunning full-art treatments. The hugely popular card game from Wizards of the Coast has already seen an impressive start to 2026, with two new expansions kicking off the year. January welcomed the return of fan favorite Lorwyn planet with the launch of Lorwyn Eclipsed, while Magic: The Gathering launched its new crossover with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at the end of February. Now, Wizards of the Coast is returning soon to another beloved setting.
Second set of the year in the universe for Magic: The Gathering will mark the comeback of another popular plan. Secrets of Strixhaven will take players back to Arcavio's plane and the titular magical academy, following the events of the Phyrexian invasion in the March of the Machine expansion. Wizards of the Coast has already teased several cards from the expansion, including a new set of Commander decks that highlight each of Strixhaven's individual schools. Now, Wizards of the Coast has released its full reveal for the newest Strixhaven set.

Magic: The Gathering reveals new cards from Secrets of Strixhaven
Wizards of the Coast released its first big reveal for Secrets of Strixhaven on March 31, showing off more than 40 new cards from the set. Each of Strixhaven's five schools gets its own powerful new Elder Dragon card in the set, with keywords like Affinity, Sacrifice, and Storm, among others. Secrets of Strixhaven adds two brand new planeswalker cards Magic: The Gatheringfeaturing Professor Dellian Fel and a new mono-black version of the popular planeswalker Ral Zarek, the first non-Izzet version of the character. Secrets of Strixhaven will also introduce the Prepare mechanic to the game, with players able to cast the secondary spells listed on the card by meeting certain conditions.

Magic: The Gathering showed off tons of special card treatments in the Secrets of Strixhaven reveal and teased the return of Mystical Archive cards. Powerful Instant card Force of Will gets a new version as part of the subset, getting both a base version and a special alternate art version with Japanese text. Vampiric Tutor is also expected to be one of the biggest hunting cards from Secrets of Strixhaven's Mystical Archive deck, with the card typically selling for nearly $70 on the secondary market. Secrets of Strixhaven is scheduled for official release on April 24th, with pre-release events starting on April 17th.

Secrets of Strixhaven will be one of the most exciting Magic: The Gathering this year's set, featuring a host of highly sought-after cards. The Prepare mechanic will give players access to some of the Magics most powerful Instants and Sorceries, including the new Emeritus of Ideation, which allows players to cast Ancestral Recall, a member of the game's “power nine” cards. Wizards of the Coast also revealed a new numbered card coming in Secrets of Strixhaven, with Emeritus of Ideation getting an alternate art version inspired by Elder Magic: The Gathering promotional card.
Beyond Secrets of Strixhaven, Magic: The Gathering has tons of exciting new expansions coming throughout the rest of 2026. Wizards of the Coast has a new set in the universe planned for 2026 after Secrets of Strixhaven, with Reality Fracture scheduled for release on October 2nd. The card game is also preparing to launch three more collaborations during the year and add crossover sets too Marvel Super Heroes, The Hobbitand Star Trek. Magic: The Gathering is poised to have a big year in 2026, with the game continuing to release new big sets almost every month.
