Magic: the Gathering has accidentally leaked more than 30 new cards from the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, accidentally found in prerelease kits for Lorwyn Eclipsed. The beloved card game from Wizards of the Coast has teased some big plans on the horizon, with a slew of exciting expansions set to release in the near future. Magic: the Gathering is kicking off the new year with Lorwyn Eclipsed launching on January 23, with seven different sets slated to debut in 2026. Wizards of the Coast is also going all-in on one of its biggest new initiatives.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cards appear in Magic's Lorwyn Prerelease Kit
Multiple Magic: the Gatherings pre-release kit for Lorwyn Eclipsed has reportedly mistakenly included promotional cards from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set. More than thirty different cards from Magicpp Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set has been revealed through a flurry of posts by confused fans, with many of the set's rare and mythic cards being spoiled well in advance. Wizards of the Coast has also made an official statement about the pre-release bugs, revealing that TMNT the promotional inclusions were not intended and provided stores with instructions on how to fix the mix-ups. Magic: the Gatheringpp Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion is currently scheduled for release on March 6.
The litany of leaks from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the expansion contains several interesting cards from the set. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will reportedly feature the return of the “Class” subtype for Enchantment cards, most recently featured in the 2024 Bloomburrow expansion. One of the leaked cards, “North Wind Avatar”, allows players to add cards to their hand from “outside the game”, a mechanic not currently included on any legal card in Magic: the Gatherings default format. The mechanic is also similar to the “Learn” mechanic used in Magic's Strixhaven: School of Mages expansion, which is speculated to potentially make a return in the upcoming Secrets of Strixhaven.
Big changes are coming to Magic: the Gathering
Magics latest leak controversy comes as Wizards of the Coast makes some big changes to the Magic: the Gathering. Wizards of the Coast previously revealed that it will end its popular “Buy-A-Box” promotion after Lorwyn Eclipsed, with players no longer receiving special offers for purchasing booster boxes from local game stores. Lorwyn Eclipsed also stands as the first new Standard-legal set since 1997's Tempest not to include a stamped campaign card with its pre-release kits. Pre-release kits now include “traditional foil” cards from the set as “promo” cards in the kit.
The plethora of leaked cards may serve to dampen fans' excitement Magic: the Gatheringthe next major clutch expansion. Wizards of the Coast was revealed first Magic: the Gatherings partnership with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in October and showed off a slew of cards at New York Comic Con. TMNT also works especially well as the second full crossover set to come from Magic: the Gatherings collaboration with Nickelodeon, which previously released Avatar: the Last Airbender expansion and a trio of Spongebob Squarepants Secret Lair drops.
