After some time, Chapter 1170 brought the story back to modern times, showing the current state of Elbaf now that it is overrun by Imu and the Knights of the Gods.
Chapter 1171 finally showed Luffy and Loki jumping into the fray, while 1172 focuses more on their allies and their plans to take on the villains. The most notable event in this entire chapter came when Elder Jarul finally declared that Elbaf will side with the World Government, which most believe creates the official beginning of One Piece's The last war.

Today's Elbaf can largely be seen as the legacy of King Harald. As one of the most powerful beings in history, Harald knew that strength alone was not enough for his country to prosper, so he devoted his life to changing the image of Elbaf so that relations would be good with the rest of the world.
This worked wonders for Elbaf as Harald's policies helped them in difficult times, due to which the general image of the country also changed. Eventually this caught the attention of the World Government, who brought them into the fold under the promise of helping them, although they had ulterior motives as usual.
In the present day, Imu's ultimate plan was revealed, which was to subjugate the giants of Elbaf as powerful thralls to be used against their enemies in the final war, causing them to come to the island themselves and forcefully transform many of the giants into evil versions of themselves to achieve this goal. But they soon found out that these legendary warriors are not so easy to defeat.
In one of the most exciting speeches in history One PieceElder Jarul breaks out a loudspeaker system that spreads a message across the country. In it, he reinforces the resolve of his countrymen, reminding them that they come from a powerful and ancient line of warriors who simply will not back down from such a threat to their country.
If the world is destined to split in two as Harley's prophecy suggests, then Elbaf will be an enemy of the World Government!
But most importantly, Jarul takes the fight to Imu and the Knights of the Gods, asking them who they are to think they have the right to take over this land. Jarul assures them that this is not their land, and their actions on it have confirmed only one thing: that the giants are tired of their bullying and will take the war to the World Government itself.
This is one of the most important moments in history One Piece as it finally confirms the start of the legendary final war, as the most powerful nation in the world has come right out to say that they will not willingly give up such an evil organization and they refuse to be their pawns in the final war.

Everything is approaching a significant stage.
Whole One Piece the fandom has been on fire ever since Jarul gave his speech in Chapter 1172. The Last War had been teased for years at this point as the biggest and most significant battle in world history, and with Elbaf now in open rebellion against the World Government, this cataclysmic war has officially begun.
Once the world gets news that Luffy and the Straw Hats have something to do with Elbaf's rebellion, the most likely scenario is that all of their former allies will follow suit and do the same. This would finally take the fight to the corrupt celestial dragons and would overthrow the centuries-old status quo.
The final war had been promised since the time of Joyboy himself in the Void Century as an event that will shake the very foundations of the world and was even spoken of in the Harley texts, which some believe are even older. How things will go down from here in the story is completely unknown at this point, but the most likely explanation is that after the events of Elbaf, the World Government will begin mobilizing its forces against the world itself.
This would create a noticeable domino effect that would eventually bring all the most powerful figures into the fray as well. Monkey D. Dragon and his revolutionary army are already implied to have the Holy Land in flames, so Imu becomes even more desperate to gain allies for the final war.

Also, Shanks and his crew are also the kind of people who help against a threat like this, so when the actual battles begin against the World Government, it is strongly suggested that all of Luffy's most powerful allies will flock to him or will deal with threats on other fronts.

Regardless of what happens, it's safe to assume that this is the final stage of the story that fans have been following for decades, and its end is closer than ever before.
