The Epic Games Store has had a fairly stable start to the year. EGS started in 2026 with Total War: Three Kingdoms and Wildgatetwo very different but very fun games, which were quickly followed Bloons TD 6 and the first two Styx game. The solid run continued with the latest Epic Games Store free game, and what's available until January 29: Rustling.
A stressful “historically incorrect” medieval game, Rustling takes the classic top-down chaotic action Grand Theft Auto and mixes it with Monty Python and the Holy Grail-inspired humor. EGS looks to continue with this adult-oriented theme next week, as the January 29 free Epic Game Store game is Definitely not Fried Chickena title which Breaking Bad fans will want to keep an eye on.

It has been well over a decade since its last episode aired and Breaking Bad is still considered one of the greatest shows of all time, thanks in no small part to its cast of compelling characters and the amazing performances associated with them. While Bryan Cranston's Walter White and Aaron Paul's Jesse Pinkman (rightly so) tend to get the most praise when fans look back on the show, Giancarlo Esposito's Gustavo Fring still shines as a fan-favorite character, despite appearing in only 26 of Breaking Badp 62 section
Gustavo Fring, the unassuming kingpin of the largest drug empire in the American Southwest, appears to most of the world as a friendly fried chicken shop manager. Unlike other iconic TV villains, Gus Fring is not remembered for his violent outbursts, but instead for his constant cool demeanor and ability to manipulate his surroundings in a careful and calculated manner. The Epic Games Store free game for January 29 lets players channel their inner Gus Fring.
Although not officially licensed Breaking Bad adaptation, Definitely not Fried Chicken certainly draws inspiration from the seminal AMC show, with its core gameplay loop where players secretly build a drug empire and use a fried chicken shop as a front for their shady business dealings. The game begins with players building their business from scratch, manually placing furniture and appliances, purchasing ingredients, and hiring staff. When their legitimate business starts making money, players will start working on the other, more lucrative half of the venture, developing illegal substances, hiring runners and meeting new “business partners”.
Like any good business sim, Definitely not Fried Chickens game loop is driven by a constant sense of progression. As players earn more money, they will be able to buy better equipment, hire more skilled staff and deliver higher quality products, which in turn gives them even more money for even better upgrades. Eventually, players will even be able to expand their empire by purchasing new legitimate restaurants and other not-so-legit properties. It's a simple loop, though Definitely not Fried Chicken has enough depth in its development to keep players engaged for at least a few hours.
Besides striving to make a fortune, Definitely not Fried Chicken tasks players with managing their workforce effectively, across both halves of their business. Players must manage schedules and ensure staffing needs are met in their facilities, whether it's making sure there are enough bathrooms for everyone or building a break room to keep morale up. Definitely not Fried Chicken may not be the most polished title the Epic Games Store has to offer, but it should satisfy some fans' desire for a proper Breaking Bad video game adaptation.
