They are not natural, except when they are.

They are also filled with small references, Easter eggs and nod not only to every book, but also to external media, such as video games and old cartoons. An expansive list of each small reference would be exhaustive, but we compiled the most significant Easter eggs found among all three books.

The gold dragon

It represents the anniversary of D&D

From the many nods to all things that D&D is in the books, few are as sentimental as the Gold Dragon in the cover of the 2024 player's manual. It was so important to include the said creature that it is shown in both cover versions and on the pages of Dungeon Master's Screen.

The meaning is the anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons, a hobby that is now 50 years old. If compared to wedding days, this would make it to the Golden Anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons, so the first book of the three released has a gold dragon front and mine.

They are more than guidance

2025 Monster Manual is filled with art and left text to contextualize state blocks, which lets Dungeon Masters know how a given creature acts in his environment. It also has quotes from fictitious characters that have met these creatures and sets a ton of reverence, despair or friendship.

Many of these comments, however, are also references to well -known figures and their role in Dungeons & Dragon's multiverse. The book is filled with them, but the best examples are Baba Yaga in the ArkeHamen's entry (establish her as an arch-garden) and we in the lump for Holocaust, the famous artificer from Eberron, which describes how scary the creature can be.

In the 2024 player's manual, there are many works of art with characters that use magical objects. These are not just illustrations; The objects look like in 2024 Dungeon Master's guide, and no artwork represents this better than the Hagbutiken found in the first chapter in the player's handbook.

For these D&D glares, their bark is as bad as their bite.

A large number of magical objects can be recognized behind the green pasture, the head among them the bag with Holding, alchemy Kanna and the pointer of Ehlonna. As an added bonus, the magician seems to throw friends or some other enchantment to help in the transaction.

Characters from dungeons & dragons -drawn film

Both them and their objects make an appearance

Dungeons & Dragons -signed the film was a child's show from the 80s that lasted for three seasons and covered the adventure for some children from the real world captured in TTRPG's land. Because of the good memories that many veteran fans have of the show, the characters make a performance in the books and first appear in the player's manual, chapter two.

Since the characters are shown as adults in art, it is safe to assume that they never found a way back to their world after the show was over.

They are more prominent in the Dungeon Master Guide 2024, especially the section on magic objects. There you can find Hank's energy wave, Diana's quartz of acrobat and even Presto's hat of many magic formulas, with rules that make them work just as they did in cartoon all these years ago.

Pole art nods on features from other books

Dragons can throw magic formulas now

2025 Monster Manual came up with many changes and updates for lots of creatures, where the dragons were the most changed. The adult and ancient versions of all dragons (except for whites) have the Spellcasting feature, which is referred to in the player's manual: The art example of control weather is an ancient brass Drake that throws spell instead of any form of humanoid.

The art for the gate also has a reference to another book, in this case to Dungeon Master's guide. While the bard Otto is seen using the spelling of the gate, it is not a rod that is normally available for Bards; He actually throws the magic formula thanks to a magical object, the cubic gate.

2

Characters from Baldur's Gate 3

Who knows how many are hidden

One character that is often referred to in D&D -Media is the MINSC, the heroic ranger that has traveled through many places in the multivers. His most prominent performances in the three books can be found in the adventure examples on Dungeon Master's guide and on the cover of Monster Manual.

The MinSC is also displayed as a playable (if something hidden) character in Baldur's Gate 3, but he is not the only character from video games contained in the books. Astarion appears in the art for the daylight in the player's manual, and given that he is not on fire, it is difficult to say if he still has the butt in him or if something much worse has happened.

1

The character classes shown in the books

They have their own adventures

The art examples for each of the classes show an archetypal example of each class, and if you look closer you can see them have adventure together throughout the book. Especially Druiden had a great career, explored with Warlock in chapter One of the player's handbook, heals the barbarian in the art of less restoration and adventure through pandemonium in the dungeon after a small cosmetic change.

The underclasses are seen more prominent in the Dungeon Master's guide, which makes all kinds of combinations among them. If this is their canonical adventure, we are sorry to report that Life Domain Cleric is dead, according to the art that shows him in the death part of DM's toolbox.
