For those who can be new to build tires in Magic: The collection Or may not follow the market closely, it is not uncommon for cards that were worth under a few dollars to suddenly be expensive. A good example is MtgFlowering turtle, which is a mythical rare from Wilds of Endraine who never really had much of a niche in the game's different formats, but it is now triple its original value thanks to an avatar manager. The same happened to cards as Searing Touch and Fist of Suns when Avatar Aang // Aang, Master of Elements, was first revealed, but now a Duskmourn card gets a huge price increase.
Unlike most price losses with Magic: The collection Cards, which are often tied to new editions and hype behind certain specific cards, this case involves the current methane in standard and how players try to counteract it. This card is called Razorkin Needlehead, and it went from about $ 3 to $ 9 and higher in two weeks ever since Mono Red Aggro -Tire started winning in MtgEven against the dreaded Vivi Ornitier. Now Mono Red Aggro is a staple counter for the Izz Cauldron, and Razorkin Needlehead is a big reason why.
Razorkin Needlehead was only $ 2.79 at the end of August, and its current price is between $ 9 and $ 10, sometimes for non-NEAR Mint versions as well.
Magic: The Gathering's best tires counteracted by a Duskmourn card
Duskmourn: House of Horror came out at the end of September last year, and several of its cards ended up playing a lot in different formats, such as fear of missing or superior to The Hauntwoods. Razorkin Needlehead's rise to appearance is also no coincidence, as it is the perfect counter for the most widely used default tire in the game, with it MtgS Izzet Cauldron. This tire can draw a significant number of cards with such as Winternight stories or professionals eidetic memory, and with a tire focused on smaller, cheaper drops to deal with damage early, the Izzet Cauldron may encounter a loss.
Razorkin Needlehead is a 2-red 2/2 creature that first has a strike on the user's turn, which is decent, but not as strong as other parts of the tire, which rented claw, burned out bashtronaut or screaming nemesis. However, it also has the ability to deal with an injury to each opponent who draws a card and repeats the effect every time a card is drawn. Because the izzet cauldron likes to draw many cards and then throw them with the incredible amount of mana it can generate with MtgVivi -ororitians in the cemetery and Agathas Soul Cauldron in the field, Razorkin Needlehead can put the brakes on this strategy very early.
How Razorkin Needlehead Counters MTG's current meta
This is also a powerful card in other matches, such as Dimir Midrange or Azorius Control. The former likes to draw with Kaito, Bane of Nightmare's and lasting curiosity, and it usually runs the sheriff as one of its removals, to which Razorkin Needlehead is immune. Azorius Control does the same with several cards, and it usually runs fewer removals, so Razorkin Needlehead can be exceptional in this matchup. Given that these two tires together with the Izz Cauldron and Mono Red Aggro themselves make for over 65% of the meta, razorkin is rarely a “dead card”, which is perhaps less effective in mirror matches.
Razorkin needlehead is immune to shot sheriff because it works on non-outlaw creatures, which include murderers. Razorkin Needlehead is a human killer, so it cannot be destroyed in this way.
With Magic: The collectionThe edges of the eternity came Nova Hellkite, a 5-CMC 4/5 dragon creature with hurry and flight, which has the warp mechanic for only 2 generic and 1 red. This means that players can hypothetically release a 1-man creature on turn one, who rented Claw, follow up on tour two with Razorkin Needelhead and then release a distorted Nova Hellkite on tour three for a large swing at the opponent's life pool. For these reasons, Mono Red Aggro is very much back on the menu, and players who have problems with Izzet Cauldron should consider getting this powerful Duskmick card.
