The biggest test for Nintendo Switch 2 Mouse checks yet

The Nintendo Switch 2 Mouse controls have been underutilized through the launch line. There are few games that support the functionality at the time of writing, while no one in their right mind will relax the user interface in this way when using traditional methods is much easier. Welcome Tour, Civilization 7 and Bravely Standard: Flying Fairy helped take a couple of fascinating steps forward, but we're still waiting for a game to change everything.

Drag X Drive, despite its unfortunate content offers and surprisingly muted aesthetic, could do just that. It may take a while to get used to balancing two Joy-Con on your knee as you slip and slip around the place in an ultra-stylish wheelchair, but once you have done it there is an extremely satisfying sports game waiting for you.

The sharp and responsive controls work in tandem with fast and simple matches that come online. I just wish there was more for sports sneezes like myself who can go away after just a few rounds.

Drag X Drive can only be played with Nintendo Switch 2 Muskcontroller

Before you can jump into something else that Drag X Drive has to offer, you must complete a series of tutorials that break down the basic controls. For starters, these can feel quite scary, but just like cycling or making your favorite coffee, there is a method that you will soon connect you to memory.

After placing your Joy -con on a flat surface – whether it is your desk or directly on your knee – you can move forward by moving Joy -con away from you without removing it from the surface. Reverse is achieved by doing the opposite, while you turn by keeping one of the shoulder buttons until you meet a desired direction.

Retailing for just £ 16.99/$ 19.99, it is obvious that Nintendo wants this to be a cheap and happy first party offer, which is in line with how much content the game actually has.

The player makes a shot at Basket in Drag X Drive.

Light on the back of the wheelchair indicates when you move in top speed, which means it is safe to start pulling off tricks or combining basic movement with turns to move much more gracefully over the court. I will admit that I was initially a difficult mess and had to cease movement for a second to orient myself in the right position before taking a shot.

After a few hours, however, the controls became second nature and I managed to weave together difficult maneuvers as if they were nothing. It felt like Rocket League, where it initially feels like you will never be able to score a goal or run with more grace than a confused scal extric, but it only takes a little practice to start to feel at home.

Passing is done by pressing L+R together, which are equipped with a generous lock so that you do not end up in the ball in thin air.

Three players prepare to jump into the next match in Drag X Drive.

When it comes to shooting baskets, this is performed with a delicate girl of the wrist, although the Drag X drive is very specific if both the strength and the angle as they are taken. Are you trying to sink a basket without considering where you want it to go? Chances are that it will not go anywhere close and the enemy team will scoop up the ball and rush down the track. Just like in real basketball, there is also a three -point line that rewards you with risky and more powerful shots along with running up the ramps on each side of the basket to pull off sick cans.

When it comes to positions on the court, there are three to choose from – guard, forward and the center – although all three are quite well rounded. Forward is about getting the ball and the point, while the center is designed to prevent players from reaching the basket with hard blows that rip the ball from their grip. Guards are lean fellows that are perfect for quickly moving over the court and rising the walls to stop incoming shots.

Trick images are ridiculously difficult to pull the heat in a game, so I would recommend getting some practice while you are lobbying in the lobby so you don't screw up. Speaking of, a lot of time will be spent in either the online or bot loops between matches, which is essentially a hub area and the only playable space in Drag X Drive off the track.

This is where you will be able to meet friends and practice together before you jump into a game, or take on several challenges that can reward you with new cosmetics and similar rewards. However, these challenges are only advanced tutorials that teach you how to do rabbit jumps, ride on the semi -tube or move around obstacles with greater tactility. It takes most players a couple of hours at most To finish these and chase the high points.

If you are not playing online, Drag X Drive will not be worth your time

The player demands a pass as he moves across the track in Drag X Drive.

During the review period it was a high order to find other players online who were not bots, so I embraced every meeting I could. One even saw a short but beautiful friendship rising to the surface as a stranger and I spent 30 full minutes practicing shots on the court and cheer each other on. I would take a picture, celebrate a sick dunk or mourn my terrible skills just to send the ball directly to my mysterious friend. We did this over and over again and learned new things as we walked.

Not a word was said, because we could only communicate by pressing three of the direction buttons to say things like “cool” and “no prob” for each other. It was a quiet band that made me sure that others would meet new people in Drag X Drive just as I did, and hopefully learn the ropes in a way that is nice, rewarding and oh-so adorable.

Some of the unlockable topics I found during my tests included new helmets, color schemes and more to pimp out your wheelchair. The changes are minimal, so I hope it grows in sophistication and variety with future updates.

Two players bump into each other during a match in Drag X Drive.

Nothing beats finding yourself in the heat in a tense game when you strive desperately to stop before the enemy where even a single successful basket can change everything. Drag X Drive, which assumes such Oortodok's control method but still manages to create these tension without problems, is proof of how simple it works in the moment. There were countless moments where I would thump a nail -biting basket just to find myself that rushed down the other end of the court ready for a counter -attack.

Short match times, a small court and exact law composition make each individual round a nail bite, and it is mostly when playing with bots during the review period. I can't wait to see what kind of relaxed and competitive communities are formed around this game and what tricks they can pull with its mechanics that someone I could only dream of.

But I also want to see what Nintendo has the sleeve when it comes to updates and refinements. If it is serious when Drag X Drive becomes a Marquee -Multiplayer experience, we can see a seasonal model complete with new situations and cosmetics that enable compelling innovation that Rocket League has delivered for over a decade now? I hope certainly, because otherwise Drag X Drive feels a little light on playability.

Drag X Drive is not intended to be the next Big Nintendo Switch 2 exclusively, but it is still a hell of a convincing case for its underutilized muscular controls and is a truly original sports title. It will take some time to get used to its odd stimulation and unorthodox mechanics, but when you have found your wheels on the court it is difficult to pull away.
