The biggest new gen Shonen Manga has officially finished its first part

Shonen manga series have witnessed a major change in recent years and this is due to the end of some of the most iconic series out there. That anime and manga are as mainstream today as they are is mainly due to how popular shonen series have become all over the world. As such, series such as Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Balland Bleach are primarily responsible for the growth that anime and manga have seen over the years. Then came series like My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisenand Demon Slayerwhich went on to elevate the entire medium to a whole other level and give it a modern touch, making it even more popular than ever before.

But in recent years, the shonen manga industry has taken a major hit, with some of the biggest works officially ending. Demon Slayerwhich is one of the best-selling manga series of all time, ended in 2020. Just four years later, in 2024, My Hero Academia also followed. A couple of months after the end of My Hero AcademiaGege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen ended, and Jump was left without its three biggest series, with One Piece being the only one at the top. Then came Kagurabachiwhich, although it got off to a rocky start, has established itself as one of the most popular new generation manga out there. Now Kagurabachi has officially finished its first part.

Kagurabachi is the greatest new gen Shonen Manga

Kagurabachi part 1 end

When talking about the new generation of manga, many fans still think of My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen as part of the group. The truth is that these series have already left their own eras behind and a whole new era has begun in Shonen Jump. In the new generation of Shonen Jump, Kagurabachi is the leader as it is easily the most popular new series. Kagurabachi began its run in Weekly Shonen Jump in late 2024, by talented artist Takeru Hokazono.

This is a story of wizards and samurai, and more than that, a story of revenge and closure. Kagurabachi is an absolutely brilliant series that fans have come to love over the past two years. It goes without saying that this series is only going to get bigger. Among all the new generation manga, Kagurabachi is easily one of the biggest, next to Ichi the Witch, which is another brilliant new generation series that is sure to blow up in the coming years.

Kagurabachi part 1 is officially over with chapter 112

kagurabachi part 2 begins

Earlier this week, Kagurabachi Chapter 112 arrived, and with it, the conclusion to one of the most exciting arcs in the story was delivered. What was even more shocking was that Kagurabachi officially ended its first part here. With 112 chapters ending the first part, it can be said that the series may already be in the middle.

This shouldn't come as a surprise to many fans, given that more and more manga are now looking at the very short runs. For example, Demon Slayer only ran 205 chapters. Meanwhile, the likes of Jujutsu Kaisenwhich ended just over a year ago, ended the story with 271 chapters. My Hero Academia was something of an outlier, given that it had a total of 431 chapters. Sakamoto Days is also looking to end its run in the 200s, and it seems to be a trend for new generation Shonen manga to end around this number. Kagurabachi is already 112 chapters in, and as such, it makes perfect sense for the series to end its first installment here.

Excitement for Kagurabachi part 2 is growing

Looks like there won't be any waiting for Kagurabachi Part 2 to start. The story will dive right into Part 2 in the next issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump, and Takeru Hokazono's work is sure to be just as exciting, if not more so, going forward.

How part 2 will differ from the first part, fans can only find out when the story actually resumes, but it will certainly be much more intense, with even stronger enemies, as well as a stronger main cast. If typical shonen logic is followed here, then Part 2 should see Chihiro stronger than ever before, with a will made even stronger through all the battles he participated in. Fans absolutely cannot wait to dive into Kagurabachi Part 2, which will begin later this week.
