The biggest flop in the series was Gaara, and here is why

This post contains Naruto.

Naruto Has a large and diverse role of characters. Kishimoto worked hard to ensure that the characters were unique and were not too similar. It is because of his hard work that almost every character has a large fan base.

Unfortunately Kishimoto could not give equal attention to each Naruto character. Other times he made some decisions that killed the hype of a character completely. This is something that happened to Gaara.

Gaara flopped badly as a fighter

He hardly improved as a ninja

Gaara in Naruto (2)

  • Gaara could freely manipulate sand

  • Shukaku granted him further strength

In Part 1, Gaara was presented as an almost invincible fighter who could also handle adult ninjas. During the Chunin exam, Gaara showed her skill, which surprised each individual participant. He passed the death forest with flying colors. In the head-to-head fights, Gaara again proved why he was the favorite to win the entire competition. Rock Lee tested him, but in the end the Gaara was the winner. Ninja from the hidden sand was later matched with Sasuke Uchiha, but the fight was interrupted due to Orochimar's attack. Gaara later fought against Naruto in what was an epic struggle. Gaara dominated a large part of the fight, but it was Naruto who came as the victory.

After the incident, Gaara went back to the hidden sand, and after a while he became the next Kazekage. It was exactly after the Konoha crusher that Gaara's growth that fighter went on a downward spiral. Although he became Kazekage, Gaara rarely won any fights. He was captured by Deidara and had later shukaku extracted. Gaara died as a result of the tailed animal's extraction but was rescued by Chiyo's victims. In Part 2, Gaara barely performed well in fights. It was a disappointment to see his stunned growth, especially when presented as an excellent fighter.

Naruto Rock Lee vs. Gaara.

Gaara had a lot of promise, and it was unfortunate that he never fulfilled it. He was on his way to achieve greatness, but Kishimoto clearly had other plans. The author did not give Gaara any major power-ups, which prevented his development. In this regard, Gaara was related to NEI, another genius that never realized her potential.

Gaara's growth as a character was excellent

Gaara greatly improved as a person

Gaara in Naruto

As mentioned earlier, Gaara's growth as a fighter is what makes him a flop. At the same time, his character development was nothing but phenomenal. As a child, Gaara was kind and always tried to help others. But his uncle's store changed him and turned him into a cold -blooded killer. Gaara accepted the fact that he would never be loved, and he was just useful as a weapon. Gaara's carried the feelings of hatred for several years, and they did not change until he met Naruto.

When Gaara lost control of Shukaku, he caused a lot of destruction. Most would have wanted to eliminate him, but Naruto was different. The hero wanted to save Gaara and make him understand that he was not alone. Originally, Gaara rejected the idea because he considered it another ruse. But Naruto refused to give up, and he continued to try until Gaara dug in. The latter realized that Naruto was not lying and he really felt his pain.

After his loss, Gaara went back to the hidden sand as a changed person. He had more empathy, and he did not force his will on others. His siblings were glad that their brother was no longer a monster. He was even chosen to Kazekage in the hidden sand. Gaara showed her growth as character when he decided to sacrifice his own life to protect the village's people from Deidara's bombs.

Gaara in Boruto

Gaara was involved in two more incredible moments. One of them occurred during the five summit in Kage, where he talked to Sasuke, who had become a villain Ninja. Gaara gave an impressive speech, which showed his maturity. The second occasion was when he gave a speech to the Shinobi Alliance. Gaara's speech helped Ninjorna set aside their differences and meet to take down a common threat. It is worth repeating that Gaara was just a flop like Ninja, but he was phenomenal as a character.
