Whether it's when you first choose your starter Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: ZA, when you get one of the other region's beloved starters, or when you just connect with a good Grass-type Pokémon, we bet you'll fall in love with these down-to-earth teammates in no time!
Grass typing in Pokemon has long been a fan favorite, but with so many unique Grass Pokemon available in Pokemon Legends: ZA between the base game itself and the rifts across Hyperspace Lumiose in the Mega Dimension DLC, you'd be wise to make it a priority to find and train these Pokemon.

Maybe it's a bit of a surprise to see a Pokemon you'd expect to see on our list of the best ice types here in our picks for the best grass Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: ZA (and don't worry, it'll be there too!), but that's part of what makes Abomasnow so good – how trainers sometimes don't see how powerful grasses are.
The best catches in each wild zone in Pokemon Legends: ZA
You should probably still catch them all, of course, but if you have to focus on one of them…
This double-spell of our favorite abominable snowman Pokémon makes a hell of a step up in the fray even before you have your Abomasnow go Mega. While it may be large and slow in terms of speed, it more than makes up for it with sheer firepower when you summon it onto the battlefield.
Thirteenth
We hope you had an easy enough time dealing with this difficult Alpha Pokémon in Wild Zone 13, but if you managed to catch the Trevanent on a mission to hunt you down and haunt you while exploring that area of the Rouge Sector, then you've undoubtedly learned how beneficial a teammate it can be.
We don't often see double-writes with Grass and Ghost, but it's always interesting to see the different ways the Pokemon team comes up with experiments. Even if you don't get a Mega Evolution stone to use with your favorite Ghost and Grass hybrid, its base stats make it more than worth capturing and adding to your Grass teams.

Grass is always ripe for dual-typing, but we really love the creativity when it came to Scovillain, the Spicy Pepper Pokémon that made its debut earlier in Generation Nine. It was a fan favorite in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, so we're sure we're not the only ones who were excited to see it return for the Mega Dimension DLC.
Scovillain is another Pokémon whose Attack and Special Attack stats are similar, and its new Mega Form keeps this boost spread out evenly to ensure you have the same type of elemental coverage no matter how you choose to dish out damage out on the battlefield. We want to imagine that the Fire-type attacks come from the red head, while the Grass-types come from the green.

The Hoenn starters are fan favorites for everyone who fell in love with Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald back in the day, and those Grass-type lovers will be more than happy to know that Forest Pokemon are returning again in the Mega Dimension DLC to rejoin your Pokemon adventure team.
Pokemon Legends: ZA – List of strongest Pokemon levels
The strongest Mega Evolutions stake their claim.
It's a Special Attacker whose stats only improve when you give it a Sceptilite and let it use its Mega Evolution on the battlefield, and you'll find that the big speed stat boost is also a big help. While not the most powerful of the starter Pokémon's final evolutions, you'll get great mileage out of its high Special Attack and Speed stats.

It's not often on these types of lists of the best Pokemon types, especially with one of the three core types, that random Pokemon beat out the established power and fan favorite status of Pokemon starters, but even though Mega Victreebel looks incredibly silly, it has stats well worth bragging about.
Victreebel has a good balance in its attack types, and Mega Victreebel sees marked improvements to both Attack and Special Attack stats when using its Mega Stone. The Special Attack boost is a bit bigger, but regardless, your Mega Victreebel will have no time to sweep the floor with your opponents in battle.

If you rode Chikorita when you first arrived in Lumiose City for your adventure in Pokemon Legends: ZA, then we don't need to convince you how powerful its final form Meganium can be, even before you give it its Meganiumite and make it Mega with its new Mega Evolution added in this gen nine title.
Its Mega Evolution takes what was once a fair balance between physical and Special Attack and instead specifies you to become a pure Special Attacker with your Mega Meganium. Your defense of both variants is pretty impressive as well, so you'll hit hard with Mega Meganium while taking minimal damage in return.

You'll enjoy a nice dual-type with Chesnaught, the final form of the Kalos starter Chespin, who evolves into the Fighting-type as well as the Grass-type when it reaches its final evolution at level 36. Like the other Kalos starters, Chesnaught was the recipient of a particularly potent Mega Evolution form in the Pokemon and Legends game is the best in the ZA game.
Chesnaught has always had powerful offensive capabilities, but you'll find plenty of use for its amazing defensive stats as well, especially when it goes Mega and sees one of the highest base defense stats in the entire game. With access to strong moves like Wood Hammer at the upper levels, Chesnaught is something of a must for Grass trainers.
Just use something to restore speed, as Chesnaught is not known for being fast.

Fans of the original Pokemon games may bring their love of the original Grass starter's final evolution to Pokemon Legends: ZA, and with good reason – Venusaur and its potential Mega Evolution form are some of the very best Grass-type Pokemon in the entire game.
It enjoys a double typing between Grass and Poison as well, and its already impressive Special Attack and Special Defense stats only soar further when you have your Venusaur go Mega during combat. With top-level moves for both of its types, with Grass giving it Solar Beam and Sludge Wave coming from its Poison secondary type, Venusaur is a force to be reckoned with in battle.
