Honestly, it's hard to imagine any game that hinders the pure brilliance of Age of Empires 2. Although it was first released in 1999, the original game still holds remarkably good to this day, as evidenced by a Remaster 2019 that made very little to the core mechanics and just sharpened the graphics.

This is because the central design of the game is almost flawless. Players must create an industrial kingdom as quickly as they can to run a military engine to fight other empires that do exactly the same thing. Strategy, reflexes and careful planning result in a luminous addictive game that remains the very best of the entire franchise.
