Most of the comments below the design praise the idea, with many even linking its apparent inspiration to the Barong. However, some others pour cold water on the artist's fire (pun intended) by suggesting that it's unrealistic for a beginner Pokémon to look like this in its final stage of evolution. For one, it has the appearance of a Legendary Pokemon, which would rule it out from being a starter, but many fans also express skepticism that Pombon's final form would remain quadrupedal rather than bipedal – as Pokemon like Fennekin and Litten are in their final forms.

It's common for a Pokémon to take on a completely different appearance in its final form than it did in its first, although the roots are generally still visible. In this case, Pokemon winds and WAVES' The Pomb only increases in size, its fangs, claws, ears and eyebrows lengthen, and it gains a kind of body armor that looks like it's made of hardened magma.

This Pombon design by Reddit user 2019_yoty2021 may be more of a humorous take on Pokemon's three evolutions, but it's still one worth checking out. The design shows bipedal Pombon picking up a Pokeball shield and sword in his second form, with his final form wearing a full set of armor and a puppy-headed spear.
It didn't take long for fans to comment below the image that this is basically what Pombon would look like if it was designed by Toby Fox, the creator of Undertaleand they are not too far away. It appears to follow many of the design principles Fox became known for Undertalelike exaggerated proportions, simple but expressive facial features and a playful mix of fantasy tropes with a touch of incredible charm. While that might not be the most realistic prediction for what Game Freak might end up doing with Pombo, it captures the idea that a rookie development can completely reinvent its identity while still retaining its roots.
The Increasingly Fluffy Pombon from quasnoflaut
Reddit user quasnoflaut's design of Pombo comes with a very simple request for Game Freak: just let the Pokemon get fluffier as it evolves while not changing anything else. Unfortunately, that's a lot to ask Pokémonsince pretty much every Pokemon's appearance changes significantly as it evolves. However, that hasn't stopped fans from voicing quasnoflaut's Pombo and praising the idea that nothing changes except the volume of its fluff.
The comments below the image have some humorous nicknames for quasnoflaut's version of Pombo that are also worth mentioning. User Stretch5678 calls it “Super Saiyan Floof” and another user echoes that sentiment with a picture of the widely shared Super Saiyan 100 meme. Another user mentioned that its nickname for Pombon's final form would be LordPoofyflames, while others suggested either Flamoyed or Pombe. Finally, user SoggyTriangles would be okay with Pombon's final stage of evolution when the dog became nothing more than a fireball with a simple puppy face.
From Pombon to Houndferno by Ash_Mon
One final fan-made design of Pombo worth mentioning comes from Reddit user Ash_Mon, who not only included a colored drawing of the Pokémon's final stage of evolution, but also a name and some stats to go with it. Here, Pombon's final form is Houndferno, a Fire/Dark type Pokemon whose signature abilities are Blaze and Moxy. Also, rather than maintaining its innocent yellow-orange appearance, Pombon's fur eventually turns black or dark gray, and its expression more violent.
One user mentioned that Ash_Mon's Pombon design is essentially Houndoom, just fluffier, but fans didn't seem to mind. Other fans mentioned that they would love to see Pombo stay on all fours, regardless of how the Pokémon's appearance changes during its evolutionary journey.
