Summary
-
Zombies AR is different from multiplayer; handling, rate of fire and magazine capacity matter more than peak DPS.
-
The DS20 Mirage is the surprising top pick with its built-in grenade launcher and massive Pack-a-Punch scaling.
-
The AK-27 and M15 shred at high shots, while the X9 and MXR suffer from issues with mobility, ammo, or rate of fire.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has had its time in the spotlight for a few weeks already, allowing everyone to reach high levels of Prestige and max out their weapons to equip them with the best accessories. And while we know which Assault Rifles perform best in multiplayer, what about the fan-favorite Zombies mode?
It turns out that's a completely different task, because you're looking for very different advantages in comparison. Some ARs that dominate the online space aren't necessarily the best to take over to zombies and vice versa. Fortunately, pretty much all of them are viable, with some outshining the rest, making them a must-have for survival!

Here's everything you need to know about Weapon Prestige in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7!

X9 Maverick

Kicking things off is the three-round burst AR, the X9 Maverick, which is a solid weapon overall but can be a bit risky to run in Zombies, especially in later rounds when targets take a lot more bullets to put down. Not only do you have to land all three shots with each burst to maximize its damage output, but you also have to deal with its critically poor handling and mobility, which is a huge problem for this mode.
While its damage output is very promising, especially after being Pack-a-Punched, the fact that you can leave large amounts of damage on the table if your entire burst doesn't connect is a glaring problem. Add in the fact that you're practically immobile while using this thing, on top of that, and you have the worst AR for this mode of the bunch!

Peacekeeper MK1
|
Pro |
Disadvantages |
|---|---|
|
|
Next up is a disappointment, as we had high hopes for the Peacekeeper MK1 in Zombies. But unfortunately it falls a little short, as you'll tear through its ammo in an instant, and its accuracy can be a little too much to handle, which isn't what you want when you're trying to dispatch large groups of zombies. Its handling and mobility are top notch, but everything else makes it not worth the risk.
One positive note here is that when Pack-a-Punched the Peacekeeper MK1 has pretty solid damage and can even shoot much faster than it already does. We guess with the right build you can reign in some of its more glaring issues, but you don't need to put as much effort into most other ARs, which puts this near the bottom of the list!

MXR-17
|
Pro |
Disadvantages |
|---|---|
|
|
After that we have the lovely MXR-17, which is a dominant AR in multiplayer but comes up a little short in Zombies. While it still delivers devastating damage, its slower rate of fire holds it back quite significantly, as does its basic 25-round magazine. And when Pack-a-Punched, you can expect to blow through what little ammo you have, which is a bummer.
We still love the MXR-17 for what it brings to the table, being a laser beam that deals incredible damage, but its problems are just too big to overlook. This is something that can be handled with accessories, but there are still better options out there that won't hold you back with slow fire rates, shallow magazines, and okay mobility and handling!

M15 Mod 0
|
Pro |
Disadvantages |
|---|---|
|
|
Ah yes, the M15 Mod 0, the best Assault Rifle in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's multiplayer. While it's still a top-three pick in Zombies, it's at the bottom of the high-end, which was quite surprising to us. While it has okay mobility, handling and damage, it has the second highest rate of fire for the AR, which does a lot of heavy lifting and pushes it towards the top.
This thing breaks, and that's before you even pack it, which at that point becomes incredibly powerful and arguably the best weapon. The M15 Mod 0 has outstanding accuracy and high rate of fire, a perfect combination that is hard to beat. It's subpar damage and mobility does put it quite a bit on zombies though, but it's still a must if you want to go far!
2
AK-27
|
Pro |
Disadvantages |
|---|---|
|
|
For our penultimate pick, we're going with the devastating AK-27. The reason we prefer it over the M15 in Zombies is its massive damage, great vertical recoil, and fast mobility. It has pretty bad horizontal recoil and handling, but that can be patched up pretty easily with a couple of accessories. And when Pack-a-Punched, this thing turns into an absolute monster.
While the AK-27 is very reliable in multiplayer, we didn't expect to love it as much as we did in Zombies. It tears apart and can shine brightly on the highest rounds. If you want to tear through hordes upon hordes of zombies while maintaining tremendous mobility, then this is the AR for you. As always, you can't go wrong with AK in a Call of Duty title!

DS20 Mirage
|
Pro |
Disadvantages |
|---|---|
|
|
Speaking of a surprising weapon in Zombies, our top pick is the DS20 Mirage, which we felt was lacking in some significant areas on the multiplayer side. But for this mode it is one blast to use. Its integrated grenade launcher is a lifesaver, making it a great tool for clearing out groups of zombies, especially in the early rounds. It punches way above its weight, which we didn't anticipate at all.
Additionally, when the DS20 Mirage is Pack-a-Punched, its decently high damage output is further multiplied, making it on par with even a Pack-a-Punched AK or M15. Despite its okay to average accuracy and mobility, it's more than serviceable and won't hold you back like some of the other weapons. In Zombies, DS20 Mirage is absolutely amazing and should not be slept on!
