Tempest Riko and Chiyome Team Guide in Persona 5 The Phantom X

Tempest Riko (or Wind Tempest) is a five-star buff support unit specializing in multiple buff effects in Persona 5: The Phantom X Global server. She’s an awakened version of four-star Wind, and she switches from an Elucidator to the Strategist unit. Having a different class requires a set of teams, Wonder weapons, and Normal Personas.

Tempest Riko is a vital component of Wonder’s mono-wind team, even on P5X Asia servers as of Version 4.8. Once Version 4.0 is available on the Global servers, players can switch Mona with Yukari Takeba, another future Medic character from Persona 3 Reload. In addition to her healing capabilities, Yukari can also provide Attack buffs, Windswept ailments, damage reduction, and dispel effects to assist Tempest Riko’s party.

For this composition, Wonder can play a role as the team’s secondary buff or debuff support through his Personas. Game modes that encourage mono-element teams include Velvet Trials’ Challenge Battles, Thieves’ Secrets, and Trials of Astrolabe.

Tempest Riko and four-star Wind are not allowed in the same team.

With the addition of five-star Wind, players can now form a solid hypercarry team consisting of two five-star limited support units. Chord and Tempest Riko have different specializations in terms of buff effects. Chord A0 provides Attack and Highlight Damage boosts, as well as access to Shock ailment effects. Meanwhile, Tempest Riko A0 gives access to Attack, Crit Rate, and Critical Damage boosts, as well as access to SP Recovery and Windswept ailment effects.

As for Wonder, he can be the team’s main healer and shielder, while being a third support. Hypercarry teams are effective in game modes that feature limited turns, such as Trials from the Sea of Souls, Velvet Trials’ Challenge Battles, Gates of the Nightmare Catcher, and Trials of Astrolabe.

Make sure Wonder has a Healer or Shielder Persona in his Persona Stock to avoid your team being wiped out in combat.

Tempest Riko is also essential to Follow-Up or Resonance teams. Through her team buffs, she increased the damage potential of Frostgale Kotone, Fox, Bui, Howler Justine, and Caroline, who can strike enemy targets multiple times.

Same as above, Wonder is still your sustain teammate capable of providing healing or shield coverage to Riko’s party. This team build is suitable for any combat event or game mode, like Metro of Desire, Thieves’ Secrets, Trials of Astrolabe, and Tartarus Challenge.

Double-check the Speed stat of each party member before engaging in battle. This is to prevent mistakes in skill rotation.

Generic Wonder Weapons

5★ Sennight Inferno

Dagger

At Forge Level 0:

  • Increase Attack by 28%.
  • Corroding Lava: For each Persona of a different attribute equipped, increase damage by 6.0%.

    • Stacks up to 3 times.
    • After knocking down a foe, decrease the target’s Defense by 15.0% for 1 turn.
  • Obtainable by unlocking the first Cognitive Palace and reaching 50% map explored.

5★ Ex Machina

Dagger

At Forge Level 0:

  • Increase Attack by 28%.
  • Aura: When the user is on the field, increase the party’s Attack by 120.

    • Based on the attribute of the Persona equipped at the start of battle, increase the damage of that attribute by 17% and 40% for other allies.
  • Obtainable by unlocking the first half of the third Cognitive Palace and reaching 50% map explored.

Tempest Riko has two options for generic Wonder weapons: Sennight Inferno and Ex Machina. Sennight Inferno is an early game and temporary option for new players who have a limited pool of Normal Personas. By having 3 different Personas of different attributes, Wonder can gain access to a bonus damage boost, as well as a Defense Reduction debuff in battle.

After clearing the first half of the third Cognitive Palace, players can obtain the Ex Machina dagger. As of Version 3.2, this basic dagger weapon remains recommended for players who have not obtained Wonder’s specialized dagger from the Land of Fortune exchange shop. Ex Machina provides an increased damage output based on the attribute of the Persona currently equipped by Wonder. Also, allies will gain a damage boost if they share the same element in battle.

Ex Machina works well on Wind-centric teams that include Kotone Frostgale, Tempest Riko, and Mona.

Specialized Wonder Weapons

5★ Arc Knife

Dagger

At Forge Level 0:

  • Increase Attack by 28%.
  • Power of Creation: After inflicting an Elemental Ailment, increase Attack by 10% for 2 turns.

    • Increase Elemental Ailment Accuracy by 15%.
    • When attacking a foe, decrease the target’s Defense by 4.5%.
    • Increase this effect for each of the target’s Elemental Ailments, up to 4.
  • Obtainable from Destiny Land Shop or Land of Fortune Shop during the banner release of Phoebe.

5★ Starry Compass

Dagger

At Forge Level 0:

  • Increase Attack by 28%.
  • Universal Astrolabe: Gain the following effects based on number of stacks of Guidance.

    • 5 stacks: Decrease all foes’ Defense by 11%.
    • 10 stacks: Increase party’s Ailment Accuracy by 9%.
    • 15 stacks: Increase party’s Psychokinesis damage by 6%.
  • At the start of the battle, gain 10 Guidance stacks, and each time damage is dealt to a foe, gain 1 stack. At the end of the user’s turn, lose 5 Guidance stacks.
  • Obtainable from Destiny Land Shop or Land of Fortune Shop during the banner release of Noir.

When it comes to specialty weapons, the Arc Knife and Starry Compass daggers are the best daggers for Wonder when teaming up with Tempest Riko. The Arc Knife is effective against a single enemy, such as main story bosses and elite shadows. This unique dagger also increases the Ailment Accuracy of the Protagonist in battle, as well as casting a single target with Defense Down effects. Since there is still no Wind-focused dagger yet in the P5X Global servers, the Arc Knife is your best option.

The Arc Knife is also reliable with other elemental attacks, such as Electric, Fire, and Ice.

For multiple foes, the Starry Compass is the best weapon to equip when working with Tempest Riko. Despite being a Psychokinesis-centric dagger, this weapon can impair many enemies with lowered defense. With 10 Guidance stacks, it can also increase her team’s Effect Hit Rate in combat. Furthermore, this allows Tempest Riko and her allies to cast Elemental Ailment with a higher success rate over several turns.

Starry Compass also assists Tempest Riko by enhancing her Ailment Accuracy in battle. Having an increased Effect Hit Rate will increase the chance of inflicting an enemy target with the Windswept ailment.

High-rarity Personas, such as Janosik, Sahimochi-no-Kami, Narcissus, Leanan Sidhe, and Alice, have distinct attacks that provide significant buffs and debuffs. Then, Vishnu and Narcissus can apply Windswept effects from their strong Wind moves. Lastly, Dominion and Throne have better buff skills that strengthen her team.

Some high-rarity Normal Personas are obtainable early in the game, like Succubus and Leanan Sidhe.
