Tekken 8's slow adoption of guest characters is far from Tekken 7
Although Tekken 8 has finally got its first guest character, it took much longer to get something than its immediate predecessor Tekken 7.
Tekken 8 Players are unhappy after the release of the Season 2 update. Tekken Player Arslan Ash expressed his frustration after playing the new season and saying players “were so grateful with season 1.” Stephen “Speedkicks” Stafford, another competitive player in the Bandai Namco title, demanded an emergency fix before the start of the Tekken World Tour 2025 with Nerfs for “literally every character on the guard list.” Tekken 8 Pro player Akhil “Tetsu” cookies were not so excited with the update either and is considering switching to Street Fighter 6 Or the new one Fatal Fury.
Tekken 8 launches Season 2 update, facing immediate backlash
With Season 2 update, Tekken 8 Characters have been given new features and buffs to existing and significantly changed their power level. Dev's introduced defensive improvements but provided the guarding tools to counteract them. The fighters got even more 50/50 options, a type of move that forces the defender to choose a type of block and have a 50% chance of being hit. As a result of the changes, players found game -breaking interactions, new “touch of death” combinations and now says that “if all the fighters are broken, no one is.” The reflection of the update has also felt on Steam, with Tekken 8 sinks to “mostly negative” ratings again.
So far neither Bandai Namco nor Tekken 8 Director Katsuhiro Harada has commented on the reaction from players on the Season 2 update. Meanwhile, players hope that the developers will deal with society's complaints and that adjustments to improve the gaming experience will be released in future updates.
