Tarnished Edition's Gamescom Build has major performance problems on Nintendo Switch 2

Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is undoubtedly one of the most awaited third -party games coming to Nintendo Switch 2. Frommers has clearly shown its support for the console, as it also works on an exclusive called Duskbloods for the console. But it's been a while, and we've heard a little about nothing about one of the two.

It seems that the Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition has appeared on Gamescom 2025, with only a few selected who can check it out. Unfortunately, the tormented edition does not get the same praise as the base game received. It is reportedly suffering from major performance problems on Nintendo Switch 2.

As reported by Nintendo Life, who was among the few to try the game, the Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition does not go as well on Switch 2 as other Triple-A third-party titles, like Cyberpunk 2077. You would think that if the console could run CD Project Red's RPG, the fire would not be a problem. Apparently that is not the case.

“It's really bad, and I understand why they don't want you to see this, for Wowie Zowie, it's terrible,” said Nintendo Life's Felix Sanchez (via Kotaku). “Of course, you will never see the light on this – maybe it will only be released in that state, but I can't imagine they will do it – it was like playing Ocarina of Time. It was like 20 frames per second, sometimes I was like,” this has lost [to] 15 frames per second. “”

This is not something you can expect from FROMSoftware, especially considering how well received the Elden Ring has been, and how much time Devs had to work at the harbor. It is clearly not a case of Switch 2's capacity, which Cyberpunk 2077 has shown. It looks like we will wait a while longer for the lost edition, as Bandai Namco did not even allow tester to catch pictures.

Sanchez revealed that the game felt unstable even in relatively closed areas such as caves and rooms, and although there were only some other characters on the screen.
